Planning your wedding registry? Or maybe you're setting up your first home, creating a housewarming registry, or simply trying to figure out what you actually need for your home? In this episode of the Lovely Home Podcast, we're talking about the things that are actually worth putting on your registry—and the things you can confidently leave behind. I'm sharing 12 things I highly recommend putting on your wedding or housewarming registry, based on my own experience as a newlywed and homemaker. Then we're flipping the list around with 12 things I think you can skip. 🛍️ 12 Things You NEED on Your Registry 1. Quality Bedding Good sheets, duvet covers, comforters, and pillows are worth investing in because they're things you'll use constantly. 2. Quality Pots & Pans Take advantage of your registry to get a quality set of pots and pans that will serve you for years. 3. Quality Towels Skip the cheap towels that fray and get rough. Invest in towels you'll actually enjoy using. 4. Serving Trays & Bowls Beautiful and practical serving pieces are perfect for hosting family and friends in your home. 5. A Good Vacuum Especially if you have pets, a quality vacuum can make keeping your home clean so much easier. 6. Glass Food Storage Containers A variety of sizes is incredibly useful for meal prep, leftovers, and storing food. 7. Something for a Hobby You & Your Spouse Can Do Together Think camping supplies, pickleball paddles, board games, or anything that helps you enjoy time together. 8. One Quality Appliance You Really Want My personal recommendation? A Ninja Bullet-style blender with single-serving cups. We use ours constantly for smoothies and protein shakes. 9. Bulk Cleaning Supplies Things like Swiffer pads, mop pads, and dusting supplies can be surprisingly wonderful registry gifts because you'll actually use them. 10. Gift Cards Restaurant, grocery store, gas, Amazon, and home store gift cards can be incredibly helpful as you begin married life and establish your home. 11. Something Lovely for YOU & Something Lovely for Your Spouse Put something on the registry that simply makes each of you happy. For me, that was an espresso machine. For my husband, it was a board game. 12. Quality Kitchen Utensils Look for utensils you'll use constantly, such as stainless steel, wood, or silicone options. 🚫 12 Things You Can SKIP Then I share 12 things I personally don't think you need to prioritize on your registry: • A huge collection of wine glasses or specialty drinkware • Every kitchen appliance under the sun • China and fancy hosting materials • An expensive knife set • A matching four-pack of coffee mugs • Organizational bins before you know your space • An iron and ironing board • Single-purpose kitchen gadgets • Things you're only registering for because you think you're "supposed" to have them • Furniture you haven't thoughtfully planned for your home • Anything you're buying because you're comparing your registry to someone else's • A fancy rotating or drawer spice organization system before you know your kitchen The biggest takeaway? Your registry should serve the life you actually live—not the imaginary life the internet tells you that you should have. You don't need the biggest, fanciest, or most complete registry. You don't need everything that appears on a traditional wedding registry checklist. You need things that will bless you, your spouse, your home, and your current season of life. And most importantly, don't let this list make you feel discontent with the things you already have. Your home is still lovely. Your things are still gifts. These are simply my opinions based on my own experience—and what wasn't necessarily necessary when I first got married. 🤍 🍳 BONUS: COOKBOOKS One more fun thing I recommend putting on your registry: cookbooks! Cookbooks can be such a lovely way to build your kitchen and grow in confidence as you learn to cook and care for your home. ** WANT TO CONNECT?? ** Instagram | @lovelyhomepodcast Website | https://allthingslovely.co Join our Newsletter | Lovely Thoughts Newsletter Submit Lovely Thing of the Week | Google Form ** CHECK OUT THE LOVELY HOME PLANNER!!** "Lovely Home Planner & Guided Journal" ** BOOK A LOVELY RHYTHMS CALL!!** One on One Coaching Call!!
