125 ~ From Disability to World Records with Brent & Kyle Pease

Today’s episode truly embodies the spirit of perseverance, partnership, and possibility. Hayley is joined by the incredible brother duo, Brent Pease and Kyle Pease, the inspiring force behind the Kyle Pease Foundation. Born with cerebral palsy, Kyle relies on Brent to be his legs on race day but what they’ve built together goes far beyond the finish line. Fueled by Kyle’s relentless determination and their shared passion for inclusion, the brothers have become world-renowned athletes and advocates, redefining what’s possible both on and off the race course. In the past year alone, Brent and Kyle completed the Boston Marathon in an astonishing 3:01, securing second place among all Duo Teams, set a new world record at the IRONMAN World Championships for the push-assist division, and raised over $1 million for their Inclusive Employment Program, creating meaningful job opportunities for people with disabilities. Together, they’ve completed more than 150 races, helped their nonprofit raise over $10 million, and inspired countless people worldwide with their powerful message: Pushing Beyond Limits. In this deeply moving conversation, we explore: ✨ Kyle’s experience living with cerebral palsy and what he wishes more people understood✨ The moment they realised their story was bigger than just the two of them✨ The emotional and physical realities behind push-assist racing✨ Why inclusion in sport and employment is so personal to their mission✨ The brotherhood, resilience, and mindset that keep them moving forward✨ Their message of hope for anyone facing their own “impossible” mountain This episode is a beautiful reminder that inclusion is something we actively create, through our choices, our advocacy, and the way we show up for one another💛 Learn more about their incredible foundation : HERE ⭐ ⭐ Download My Symptom Tracker and Mental Health Tracker Bundle (SAVE $$$) : HERE or if you would like to download them individually you can access here : Symptom Tracker OR Mental Health Mood Tracker⭐ ⭐ 💗 Thank you so much for being here on this adventure with me! 💗- Hayley xo ✨ Find us on Instagram: @beforeyoubloom ✨ 🎧⭐ Follow us on :Apple Podcasts 🎧⭐ Follow us on :Spotify The Before You Bloom Podcast is recorded on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. 124 ~ Surviving Coercive Control: Lauren Trevan’s Story of Abuse and Healing

Hayley sits down with Lauren Trevan to share the truth behind 16 years of coercive control, emotional abuse, and the devastating revelations that changed her life forever. Lauren reflects on who she was at just 18 when she met her husband at their sporting club, how quickly the relationship unfolded, and the subtle red flags she didn’t recognise at the time. She opens up about how jealousy, surveillance, financial control, and emotional manipulation slowly crept into every part of her life, leaving her isolated, exhausted, and trapped. She bravely shares what it was like to discover that the man she married had been abusing young girls, how the victims’ courage helped her finally see the reality of her own situation, and how everything she had normalised suddenly made sense. Lauren speaks candidly about navigating criminal proceedings, the retraumatising family court system, and fighting for safety and custody for her children. Now the author of Now I See You, Lauren is committed to breaking the silence around domestic and family violence. She also shares her work with DV Safe Phone, highlighting how access to something as simple as a safe phone can be life-changing for someone trying to escape abuse. This episode is for anyone who has ever questioned their reality, felt unseen, or wondered if things could ever get better. Lauren’s story is one of heartbreak, courage, truth, and rebuilding proof that even after profound trauma, healing and hope are possible. 123 ~ From Grief to Healing: Katie Lolas on Loss, Motherhood & Finding Herself Again

In this heartfelt episode of Before You Bloom, I’m joined by Katie Lolas, a Sydney high school teacher, mum of two, and the voice behind the much loved online space Lady Lolas. Behind her warmth is a story shaped by profound loss. In January 2021, Katie welcomed her daughter Harper into the world while also grieving the sudden passing of her sister, Nadia, who was just 31. In the years that followed, she quietly navigated grief, depression, and motherhood. We talk about how returning to singing became a powerful part of her healing. After making the Top 100 on Australian Idol in 2004, Katie was told she had the voice but not the image, words that silenced her for 15 years. In 2022, encouraged by her psychologist, she found her way back to music. We also honour Nadia’s legacy as an autistic artist and founding member of Studio A, and Katie’s fundraising work in her memory. This episode is a beautiful conversation about grief, creativity, resilience, and learning to bloom again after loss. If you’ve ever had to rebuild yourself after heartbreak, this one is for you. 122 ~ Surviving Addiction & Mental Illness : A Story of Recovery and Hope with Adam Sheehy

⚠️ Please note: This episode includes discussions of sexual assault, addiction, and suicide. Listener discretion is advised.⚠️ In this powerful episode of Before You Bloom, I’m joined by Adam Sheehy, a man who describes himself as “defiant in the face of an imbalanced brain,” and whose story is one of deep struggle, self-awareness, and hope. Adam opens up about the early signs that something wasn’t right with his mental health, taking us into the darker moments of his life. He speaks candidly about how cannabis and alcohol became coping mechanisms, slowly shifting into dependency, and what life looked like when addiction was at its strongest. We explore the psychological grip of addiction, the internal battle between the part of Adam that wanted to heal and the part that felt trapped in the cycle. This conversation also looks forward. Adam reflects on how he manages his mental health today, the tools, routines, and mindsets that help him stay grounded, and how he navigates triggers and urges when they arise. He challenges common misconceptions around addiction and mental illness, and speaks directly to those who may feel hopeless or stuck right now. This episode is honest, raw, and deeply human. It’s for anyone navigating mental illness, addiction, recovery, or loving someone who is. Most of all, it’s a reminder that even when hope feels out of reach, it still exists, sometimes quietly, sometimes defiantly, waiting to be found. 121 ~ Navigating Pregnancy Loss, IVF & Fertility Challenges with Bianca Verdun-Koper

I’m joined by Bianca, a mother, advocate, and woman navigating profound grief, fertility challenges, and hope in the midst of heartbreak. Bianca shares her story of losing her beautiful son at 19 weeks, opening up about the days in hospital, the shock of loss, and the quiet devastation that follows when life continues but everything inside you has changed. She speaks candidly about the emotional aftermath of pregnancy loss, the things people say (and don’t say), and how grief reshapes your identity, beliefs, and sense of self. We also explore Bianca’s ongoing journey with IVF, including being diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and HLA-B27, and what it has meant to advocate for herself within the medical and fertility system while carrying deep grief. A powerful part of this conversation centres on Bianca’s fundraising efforts for a Cuddle Cot, a device that gave her precious extra time with her son after he passed. Bianca shares why this mission is so personal, what the cot offers families in unimaginable moments, and how turning pain into purpose has helped her honour her son’s memory. This episode is about loss without neat endings, hope without guarantees, and the strength it takes to keep going when your heart has been broken. If you’ve ever felt alone in your grief, this conversation is for you. You are not alone and your pain matters. 120 ~ Diagnosed With Leukaemia Straight After Giving Birth: Emma Godfrey’s Story of Survival

I sit down with Emma Godfrey to share her extraordinary story of motherhood, survival, and resilience. Emma was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia (APML) the day after giving birth to her second daughter, a moment that should have been filled with newborn bliss, but instead became a fight for her life. As Emma navigated intensive cancer treatment while adjusting to life as a new mum, her journey took another devastating turn when she went into kidney failure. While she is now thankfully in remission from her leukaemia, Emma is living with chronic kidney disease and facing the reality of needing a kidney transplant once she reaches a certain remission milestone. In this episode, Emma speaks honestly about the shock of diagnosis, and the physical and emotional toll of treatment. She opens up about the heartbreak of being separated from her newborn, the guilt and grief that can come with being unwell as a mother, and the darkest moments that tested her strength. We explore how kidney failure changed her day to day life, her relationships, and her sense of self and what it looks like to rebuild hope after everything you thought your life would be is turned upside down. Emma also shares the coping strategies that carried her through the unbearable days, the role her partner, family, and friends played in her survival, and what she wishes more people understood about cancer and chronic illness when you’re raising young children. This episode is for anyone navigating illness, motherhood, or a season of life they never asked for and for those who need permission to take things one breath at a time. 💙 As mentioned in the episode, You can book into Jessica Ella's Trauma Therapy clinic HERE and can also follow on socials : Jess' IG & Aaruka's IG . 119 ~ Why Getting Older Isn’t a Decline : 74-Year-Old Carol Lefevre on Ageing & Ongoingness

I’m joined by the extraordinary Carol Lefevre. In a world where conversations about ageing so often centre on mid-life or decline, Carol offers something rare and powerful: an honest, hopeful exploration of later life, told from an older voice, for all generations. Framed by the turning of the seasons in her small suburban garden, Bloomer documents the year Carol turned seventy and invites us to reconsider everything we think we know about ageing. In this conversation, Carol speaks openly about ageism and the harmful narratives we’ve been conditioned to accept, the grief and loneliness that can accompany later life, and the quiet resilience that grows alongside them. She reflects on losing her mother, living with a cancer diagnosis, and the shift that comes when you realise there is no longer a buffer between yourself and mortality, all with remarkable honesty and grace. We explore the idea of “ongoingness”, that life doesn’t stop or shrink with age, but continues to unfold. Carol also shares insights from her conversations with people in their 70s, 80s and 90s, each offering wisdom on resilience, kindness, grief, nature, purpose, and embracing life as it is. This episode is gentle, profound, and deeply grounding. It’s an invitation to slow down, challenge age-based stereotypes, and remember that becoming older does not mean the end of growth, it can be the beginning of a golden age. 💙 As mentioned in the episode, You can book into Jessica Ella's Trauma Therapy clinic HERE and can also follow on socials : Jess' IG & Aaruka's IG . 118 ~ Living With Stage 4 Endometriosis & A Fertility Story Of Hope with Krystal

I’m joined by the incredible Krystal, a woman whose strength, resilience, and honesty will stay with you long after the episode ends. Krystal’s journey with endometriosis began when she was just a young girl, facing years of pain that was dismissed, misunderstood, and overlooked. After finally receiving a diagnosis at 23, her life shifted in every way : emotionally, physically, and mentally. Since then, Krystal has undergone eight excision surgeries, faced a premature emergency c-section, and made the heartbreaking decision to have a hysterectomy by the age of 28. Her story is one of unimaginable pain, but also of unimaginable courage. In this conversation, she opens up about navigating fertility challenges, the moment she met her miracle daughter Amelia, and how motherhood reframed her purpose, identity, and advocacy. This episode is a testament to the strength found in vulnerability and the power of fighting for answers, for care, and for yourself! 💙 As mentioned in the episode, You can book into Jessica Ella's Trauma Therapy clinic HERE and can also follow on socials : Jess' IG & Aaruka's IG .
