Humans have for all ages felt a longing for a spiritual home, like something is missing in our hearts. And in all tribes of the world, you see humanity trying to seek back, in different expressions, to what was once lost in the sacred garden of Eden. For the Mijikenda people, there are nine main tribes, nine kayas, one Kaya for each tribe, which serve as places of spiritual homes, enlightenment, blessing, protection, leadership, wisdom and power. Kaya is like a shadow of Eden, an expression of longing for what was once lost ages ago; Eden.. Just like Eden, Kaya is a guarded, elevated, outdoor place, spiritual hotspot, with sacred ground and sacred trees. Kaya remembers that life, blessing and divine presence were once connected to sacred trees. The message of the gospel is this, Eden is the original Kaya, Jesus is the tree of life, and Jesus has fulfilled the role of a middle man and sacrifice, now God invites you to come back to the one true Eden and the true God. In this teaching we look more into this, the gospel message in light of Mijikendas culture, challenges, Kaya mindset, Eden mindset, etc.
