You don’t need to become more disciplined. You don’t need to become more focused. You don’t need to become more impressive, more successful, more “on.” You need to remember how to play again. In this episode, I’m riffing from morning tea in Australia... dogs at my feet, kookaburras in the background, wind doing the most...on a conversation I keep having with high-level founders, leaders, and visionaries who have built incredible things… and somehow feel heavy inside the life they created. Because somewhere along the way, the game stopped feeling like a game. The business became an identity. The title became a prison. The success became a set of expectations you now have to live up to. And the thing that once felt like creative expression started feeling like pressure, performance, and proof. This episode is an invitation to separate who you are from what you do. Yes, you acquire skills. Yes, you become a skilled leader, speaker, surgeon, founder, coach, investor, athlete, artist. But that is not the whole of who you are. Those are expressions. Roles. Skills. Games you’ve learned to play. They are not your essence. And when you collapse your identity into what you do, you cut yourself off from the next evolution of who you are here to experience. In this episode, I’m talking about the invisible identity prisons high performers create, why attachment to outcomes shuts down possibility, and how the frequency of play opens access to more creativity, clarity, fulfillment, and expansion than pressure ever could. Because the next level of your business may not come from pushing harder. It may come from remembering that life was never supposed to feel this heavy. In this episode, I dive into:The difference between acquiring skills and making those skills your entire identity Why so many successful founders secretly feel heavy, sad, or boxed in by the life they built How “I am this” and “I am not that” become invisible prisons Why attachment to outcomes creates fight-or-flight and blocks creative solutions The role of play, curiosity, and experimentation in your next level of expansion Why the identity that once served you may now be the exact thing limiting your next pivot How to approach launches, leadership, visibility, and business challenges as a game instead of a verdict on your worth Why your current circumstance may not need to change before your experience of it completely shifts The deeper meaning of unbecoming everything you are not Questions to sit with as you listen:Where have I turned something I do into who I am? What identity label used to serve me, but now feels like a box? Where am I attached to an outcome while telling myself I’m unattached? What would change if I approached this season of business with curiosity instead of pressure? Where have I lost the art of play? Who would I be without the title, the revenue, the role, the business, or the thing I’m known for? What part of me wants to explore something new, but has been shut down by “that’s not who I am”? Listen to this episode if:You’ve built success, but it feels heavier than you expected. You’re in a pivot and questioning who you are without the version of you that got you here. You’re launching, scaling, leading, or creating from pressure instead of possibility. You know strategy, discipline, and hard work are not the missing pieces anymore. You’re ready to stop becoming more and start unbecoming everything that was never actually you. InvitationIf this episode hits something deep in your system, this is the work we do inside my world.
