Offer good through July 31st, 2026. Original episode description What secrets would you uncover if your father’s dying words led you to a locked warehouse? In this gripping and exclusive audiobook-style episode of the Middle-aged Bodcast, co-host T.A. Shelano reads Chapter One of his debut sci-fi thriller The Doctor’s Hidden Patients. It begins with a heart attack in a supermarket car park - and ends with a shocking discovery behind a steel door. When Sarah Leidenstraum follows the trail left by her late father, Dr Robert Leidenstraum, she uncovers a secret so disturbing it could change everything she thought she knew. Set in 1999, this story weaves together emotional weight, dark humour, and slow-building suspense. If you're into dystopian fiction, family drama, or sci-fi with a conscience, this episode is for you. 📘 Love what you hear? "Act Now, Age Better" with Age UK

The Middle-aged Bodcast is proud to support Age UK's "Act Now, Age Better" campaign. Age UK’s research found that nearly half of mid-lifers used to dread school PE lessons, with millions still feeling traumatised by PE or put off exercise and sport for life. So in this episode, we're looking back at our own less-than-glorious memories of rugby, football and cricket among other sports and ask how people in midlife can find a way back into movement without any pressure, judgement or embarrassment. We also talk about some of the sports we actually liked, including Rich's surprisingly positive memories of tennis and hokey, and why finding an activity that suits you might be the key to moving more. It's not about channeling Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray or Roger Federer. Sometimes, just hitting the ball over the net is a good place to start. Chris DT Gordon: Surviving Flesh-Eating Bacteria and choosing gratitude

In this episode of The Middle-aged Bodcast, we are joined by inspirational speaker, author and survivor Chris DT Gordon. Chris shares the incredible story of how a small scratch on his hand led to sepsis, necrotizing fasciitis, also known as flesh-eating bacteria. Chris went through 15 surgeries, an induced coma, and the possibility of losing his arm, but his story isn't just about survival. It is about recovery, resilience, gratitude, kindness and choosing how you respond when life changes in an instant. We also talk about Chris' book From Survivor to Striver, The Attitude of Gratitude, the power of small acts of kindness, getting active again after trauma, marathon running, Comic Cons and why gratitude is not just a feeling, it's an action. An inspiring, funny and genuinely uplifting conversation about surviving the unimaginable and finding a way to move forward. Check out Chris' book "From Survivor to Striver: How gratitude can transform you into a superhero!" on Amazon Find out more about Chris on his website, Instagram, Threads and TikTok. 📱 Follow The Middle-aged Bodcast Online! 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/midagedbodcast 📘 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/middleagedbodcast 🐦 Twitter/X: https://x.com/MidagedBodcast 🔵 Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/middleagedbodcast.bsky.social 🌐 Website: https://middleagedbodcast.co.uk If you've enjoyed listening, we'd love it if you could follow the podcast, leave us a review and drop us a comment. Walking for Men's Mental Health: Our 12 mile challenge

In the first episode of Season 7, we look back on our 12-mile charity walk from Merry Hill to Birmingham city centre in aid of Andy's Man Club. From bacon sandwich temptations in the opening stages and unexpected roadside encouragement to aching feet, Whisper Gold-fuelled determination and a finish line complete with medals, banners and cheering supporters, we relive every step of the challenge. We also reveal how much we've raised so far, reflect on what the experience taught us about fitness, mental health and pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones, and discuss why staying active in midlife is going to be a bigger focus for us moving forward. As part of that journey, we're proud to be supporting Age UK's Act Now, Age Better campaign throughout Season 7. Most importantly, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated, supported, encouraged and helped us smash our original fundraising target for Andy's Man Club. There's still time to donate if you'd like to support the cause via our JustGiving page.
