Stress - Finding Calm, Building Resilience & Changing Your Mindset | Ep. 35

In the final episode of our 4 Pillars of Health series, we’re talking about something that impacts virtually every area of our physical and emotional health: stress. But instead of just talking about relaxation, we start this episode with a guided meditation so you can actually experience what it feels like to slow down, settle your nervous system, and reconnect with a calmer version of yourself. And from there, we ask an important question: What are the things in your life that make you feel more like THAT? Because managing stress isn't only about eliminating stressful things from our lives. Sometimes we can't change what's happening around us, but we can become more aware of what helps our bodies feel safe, grounded and restored, and intentionally create more of those experiences. We explore stress from two sides: the body and the mind.We talk about listening to your body and noticing the people, places, activities and experiences that genuinely regulate you, but we also dig into the stories happening inside your head. Many of our automatic thoughts weren't consciously chosen. They were shaped by our families, childhood experiences, relationships and society. And sometimes those old stories create far more stress than the situation itself. So what happens when we start questioning them? We also explore the idea of stress as a tool for resilience. Rather than believing that a good life, or good parenting means protecting ourselves and our kids from every difficult experience, what if some stress actually gives us an opportunity to discover what we're capable of? And finally, we talk about something many of us struggle with: how to love and support the people around us without absorbing their stress as our own. Thank you for listening, we hope this episode is helpful. Say hi on instagram @thehotjohnson

Why Your Body Isn't Responding To Exercise | Ep. 34

What if the workout you've been forcing yourself to do is actually working against you? We've been taught that more is always better. Wake up at 5 a.m., push harder, sweat more, burn more calories. But what if the key to feeling your best isn't doing *more*—it's doing what your body actually needs? In Part 3 of our Four Pillars of Health series, we're talking all about "movement" but probably not in the way you expect. This isn't another episode telling you to exercise more or lose weight. It's about completely reframing your relationship with movement and seeing it as an act of caring for your body, not punishing it. We dive into: * How to discover the type of exercise that's right for YOUR body. * Why some workouts can leave you feeling exhausted, puffy, inflamed, or stuck—especially during perimenopause or times of chronic stress. * Why more exercise isn't always better. * How to move in a way that supports your hormones, nervous system, energy, and long-term health. * How shifting your mindset around movement can improve your mental, emotional, and physical well-being. If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right but still aren't seeing results or you've started to dread working out, this conversation might completely change the way you think about fitness. Because movement shouldn't feel like punishment. It should help you feel stronger, healthier, more energized, and more connected to your body.
