John 6:60-71 - Jesus speaks to the 12 - The 20000 have dwindled to 12

It has been an incredible 24 Hours. He started with a huge crod of up to 20,000 people wanting to make Him king of Israel. They follow Him back to Capernaum where they were hoping for another free feed but what they received were words that would give them eternal life. To do that they needed to eat and drink of him. That is to believe on Him alone. They did accept Him as THE Bread of Life. They all turned away except the 12. So He asked them will you also turn away? Peter said "To whom shall we go! You have the words to Eternal life. It doesn't take a crowd to see people turn to Jesus it takes the devoted. It started with 11 as in the words of Jesus "one is a devil". I trust that as believers that Jesus is the bread of life that we can share His life within us to others.

John 6vs41-59 - There is Eternal Life only in Jesus

Right through these verses today as Jesus is now speaking to the religious leaders. The crowds on the whole have gone and now there are a lot less people. Again Jesus says in verse 48 that He is the bread of life. Right through this passage we see that Jesus over and over again uses the word LIFE. In the Greek it is the word "Zoe" which means that the very life of God is present in Jesus and those that believe in Jesus will receive this "God life" within them.

John 6:22-40 - 3 More statements/Questions asked by the crowd - I am the bread of Life

The 4 questions/statements by the crowd leads to the crowd becoming annoyed at Jesus and finding His answers too hard to follow. Jesus tells them that He is the true bread from Heaven and only if they eat and drink of Him will they have eternal life. In verse 35 Jesus plainly says that He is THE Bread of life. Those that come to Jesus will never hunger and if they believe in Jesus they will never thirst.

John 6:22-27 Intro to Vs 22-71 - Hunger for the food that leads Eternal life

After Jesus fed the 5000 men plus women and children (up to 20,000), and walking on water the people realized that Jesus had somehow come back to Capernaum without them knowing. 4 statements/questions are asked of Jesus between John 6:22 to 40. Today we look at the 1st one. "How did you get here?" Jesus knew they just wanted another free feed so he tells them not to labour for food that perishes but for food which endures to Eternal Life.

The Final part in this series of 3 is in regard to how Jesus responded to both the crowds and to the disciples. He displayed 5 characteristics which are also fully credible regarding Jesus life. They are 1/ His knowledge for the people. 2/ His concern for the people. 3/ His authority over the people. 4/ His generosity towards the people. 5/ His freedom from the people. Today we look at the credibility of the stories by looking at the reported responses of the disciples and crowds, that is the people that witnessed these miracles. I wanted to do this as people find it incredibly difficult to wrap their heads around these miracles and just dismiss them as fables. However In every way they responded is the way that we would have responded. It makes them valid events. It clearly shows that the reports given were done so by eye witnesses. 3 Reasons people dont follow Jesus (John 5:39-47)

The last part of chapter 5 gives us 3 reasons why people dont want to follow Jesus. It is clearly a decision of the will but the choice is made because: 1/ People not no love for God. (Vs 41-43) 2/ More concerned about their reputation. (vs 44) 3/ Intellectual Pride (Vs45-47) I then give a summary of the chapter where at the start of the chapter Jesus is being accused but by the end of it the table has turn and the religious leaders are told that they will be accused by Moses as He prophecied about Jesus coming and they refuse to believe Moses words.
