Welcome to the inaugural episode of "The Radical Black American," where we dive deep into the truths often untold and the paths seldom taken. I am your host, Umoja, a voice emerging from decades of reflection and a profound connection to the African diaspora. This podcast is my platform to challenge the status quo and ignite a conversation that’s long overdue. Today, I'm laying out the foundation of our journey together. You'll learn about my own awakening to the harsh realities faced by African Americans in the United States—a country that has systematically failed to protect, respect, or uplift its Black population. Inspired by our forebears' unfulfilled aspirations and stifled dreams, I argue that it is time for us to turn our gaze back to Africa, to places like Liberia, where possibilities for repatriation and rejuvenation await. Why continue to invest our energies in movements that have not moved us forward? Why remain in a land that has not healed its wounds nor admitted its sins against us? In this episode, I will discuss why severing emotional and economic ties with America isn't just a radical idea, but a necessary step towards our true liberation and sovereignty.
