A Day In The Life Of The Cowboy's Wife

Trish Charleston

This is Trish Charleston, a/k/a, the Cowboy’s Wife, coming to you from the metropolis of Rt. 1, Reeds, MO, where the rooster is crowing, the cows are mooing, the horses are pawing, the dogs are barking and the cats are literally circling, because I’m supposed to be out there feeding them right now instead of talking to you. If you don’t know me, I’m first and foremost a Christian and a now a writer and blogger. I’m a wife, a mom, a Gaga, a rancher, a former paralegal, and as all of those things, a myriad of others just trickle in. If you have children, you know the many hats we all instantly wear, from chauffeur to doctor to cook to house keeper, the list goes on an and on. The reason I’m doing this podcast is simply that Bob Goff and God are making me. They are both very bossy in my life and as Bob always says, “Let faith guide your steps,” so I’m stepping out here on faith with each session, hoping that my life stories will simply help your day be a little brighter.I’m hoping to bring some laughter and light intoyour day with my experiences in life. I’m no expert on anything but I’ve lived for 56 years. I’ve gone through and even done the good, the bad and even some ugly in my life. I have some hilarious stories that will make you laugh so hard that you blow coffee out of your nose, to some that will make you just flat ugly cry. I havebeen blessed with good writing material being married to the Cowboy, living and working on the farm, working in the legal world, raising children, having grandchildren, going through “the menopause,” the list goes on and on.This is a day in the life of the Cowboy’s wife, to brighten the day in yours.

    Episode #41 | Cowgirl Armor

In this episode, I sit down with Jordan Jo Hollabaugh to talk about the heart behind Cowgirl Armor — why it exists, who it’s for, and what it means for women to finally have a space where honesty is strength, vulnerability is courage, and faith is the foundation of every battle we fight. We dive into the pressures women carry quietly: identity, comparison, motherhood, performance, and the fear of not being “enough.” Jordan opens up about her own journey in and out of the arena, and together we uncover the deeper message that sparked Cowgirl Armor in the first place — that women are walking through spiritual, emotional, and mental battles every day, and they need a place where their stories matter. Cowgirl Armor was built on the belief that testimony is powerful, that wounds can become wisdom, and that faith equips us to stand firm even when life gets heavy. This conversation reflects exactly that. Jordan’s transparency, combined with the mission of Cowgirl Armor, creates a reminder that we were never meant to fight alone — and that when women share their stories, other women find their strength. This episode is raw, uplifting, faith-filled, and rooted in the purpose God placed on this brand: to help women armor up, rise up, and walk boldly into who they were created to be. ✨Listen on Apple Podcasts✨ https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-day-in-the-life-of-the-cowboys-wife/id1760824619 ✨Listen on Spotify✨ https://open.spotify.com/show/0zAPwSjEo4bTRzkyEJ4TUc?si=_c9i03IRQ02N06VoYvXmEQ&nd=1&dlsi=134c1c4ec5d14edd ✨Watch it on my YouTube Channel✨ https://m.youtube.com/@TrishCharleston

    Episode #40 | I’m Back!

In this episode, I open up about what’s been on my heart lately and why I decided to step back behind the microphone again. I share the whirlwind of Emma’s recent wedding, the chaos, the blessings, and the unexpected lessons God tucked into every moment — including what happens when you don’t let people help you and how that can actually rob them of a blessing. I also talk about speaking at a Women in Ag FFA conference, how I almost said no, and how one simple phone call reminded me why first impressions matter. From posting a family photo online to dealing with criticism, to learning when to stay quiet and when to trust the Holy Spirit’s nudge, this episode touches on grace, humility, and the messy parts of being human. One of the biggest themes I dive into is the idea of spiritual cairns — the people and moments God places in our path to guide us, teach us, and confirm we’re headed in the right direction. I share how those markers have shown up in Emma’s life, in mine, and how easy it can be to miss them when we’re too focused on the whole journey instead of the next step. This episode is honest, imperfect, faith-filled, and straight from the heart. I’m excited to be back, excited for what God’s doing, and excited to keep taking one step at a time — even when I can’t see the whole path yet.

Hey y’all, it’s Trish—The Cowboy’s Wife—and today I’m sitting down with my son-in-law, Colt Atwood, for a real conversation about family, sports, and the choices that shape us. We talked about growing up in competitive families-Colt with five siblings under one roof in Katy, Texas, was a sport all its own. His stories about life with five boys, a sister, and a mom who somehow kept it all together are worth the listen alone. Colt opened up about turning down a shot at pro baseball after being drafted by the Oakland A’s, and what it really meant to choose family and future over fame. We got into the changing world of college athletics—from NIL deals to transfer portals—and how it’s shifting the landscape for student-athletes across the country. We also shared memories from our own time in the stands—watching Quincy pitch her heart out, living for those game-day nerves, and learning when to be quiet as parents. Trust me, that’s a lesson I had to learn the hard way. If you’ve ever raised a kid in sports, made a tough call, or just love a good story about grit, heart, and finding Jesus, this one’s for you.

Hey y’all, it’s Trish—The Cowboy’s Wife—and in this episode, I’m celebrating Mother’s Day with one of my very favorite people—my mom, Jenny Mansfield. I invited her on to share some of our favorite memories, the good, the awkward, and the downright hilarious. We talked about what it was like growing up in a strict Assembly of God household, including the time I got scared of the “Holy Ghost” and tried to speak Spanish during church.  We laughed about our crazy neighbor Gaylord, who used to peek in our windows and scare us to death, and we took a walk down memory lane to the simpler days when all we needed was our imagination, some neighborhood friends, and a little blackjack chewing gum. I also shared how much I appreciate the legacy of my grandma, a true prayer warrior who spent her days on her knees for all of us.  From stealing bubble gum to stealing cars as a kid, this episode is full of stories that shaped who I am today. Grab a coffee, sit back, and join me and my mom for this heartfelt and hilarious conversation.  You might laugh, you might cry—but either way, I hope it leaves you feeling like part of the family. Let’s do this.

    36. | Stay Hooked! | A Day In The Life Of The Cowboy's Wife with Trish Charleston

Hey y’all, it’s Trish—The Cowboy’s Wife—and in this episode, I’m flying solo to share something that’s been years in the making: my new book, Stay Hooked. This one’s raw, real, and straight from the heart. I take y’all behind the scenes on what it was like to pour my soul into this story—through the ups, the doubts, the lonely moments, and the big breakthroughs. It’s more than just pages—it’s a piece of my life, our rodeo journey, and Emma’s incredible story. I talk about what it took to finally finish a chapter book (spoiler alert: it wasn’t easy), the rollercoaster of launching it, and the unexpected emotions of seeing who shows up to support you…and who doesn’t. I open up about learning to trust the process, staying present, and not letting the tough stuff steal your joy. If you’ve ever chased a dream that felt just out of reach—or wondered if anyone would really “get” what you’re building—this episode is for you. I share a few laughs, a few tears, and a whole lot of truth about sticking with something that matters. Thanks for riding this one out with me. I hope it reminds you to keep showing up, keep creating, and keep believing it’s worth it.
