Episode 128: Why America Still Needs the Electoral College

Why did America’s Founding Fathers create the Electoral College—and does it still serve an important purpose today? In this episode, with the help of our guest Martha Cothren, we take a deep dive into one of the most debated features of America’s constitutional system: the Electoral College. We’ll explore how and why it was created at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, how it actually works, and the important role it has played throughout American history. But we’re not stopping with history. We’ll tackle the questions Americans are still debating today: Should the candidate who receives the most votes nationwide always become president? Does the Electoral College give smaller states too much influence—or does it help preserve the role of the states in our federal system? Would eliminating the Electoral College cause presidential campaigns to concentrate even more heavily on America’s largest population centers? Why do a handful of battleground states receive so much attention under the current system? And perhaps most importantly: What would presidential elections actually look like if America abolished the Electoral College? We’ll examine the strongest arguments from those who want to eliminate it—and then make the case for why the Electoral College continues to play an important role in our constitutional republic. This shouldn’t simply be about Republicans versus Democrats. It shouldn’t be about changing the system because our candidate won or lost. It should be about understanding our Constitution, understanding federalism, and asking what system will best serve America for generations to come. Before we abolish something that’s been part of presidential elections since the founding of our nation, perhaps we should first understand why it’s there. Watch or listen and decide for yourself: Is the Electoral College an outdated relic—or a constitutional safeguard America still needs? Episode 127: How to Handle Pressure: 4 Biblical Steps to Stand Firm When Life Gets Tough

Pressure is a part of life. The question isn’t whether pressure will come—the question is how you will respond when it does. As Christians, adversity gives us an opportunity to demonstrate the strength, peace, and confidence that come from a genuine relationship with God. Yet when circumstances get difficult, it’s easy to take our eyes off God and become consumed by the problem. In this episode, Larry shares 4 simple, biblical steps for handling pressure without allowing pressure to handle you. We’ll also look at Peter walking on the water and the powerful lesson his experience teaches us about dealing with life’s storms. Peter was doing fine while his eyes were fixed on Jesus. When his attention shifted to the wind and waves, he began to sink. The storm didn’t change. Peter’s focus did. That’s a lesson all of us can use. Whatever pressure you’re facing today—financial problems, family difficulties, uncertainty, disappointment, fear, or circumstances completely outside your control—remember: God is bigger. Don’t let pressure determine your faith. Let your faith determine how you handle the pressure. 📖 Scriptures include: 1 Peter 5:7, Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 2:5, Mark 9:23, Luke 18:27, Matthew 14:25–32, Joel 3:10, Hebrews 12:2, Isaiah 55:3, and Psalm 105:2. Episode 125: 5 Principles To Develop A Biblical Worldview

Developing a biblical worldview doesn’t happen by accident—it requires intentional study, spiritual maturity, and a firm foundation in God’s Word. In this episode, regular contributor Sabrina McDonald once again delivers practical wisdom as she shares five foundational principles for developing a biblical worldview. She explains how Christians can learn to interpret today’s culture through the lens of Scripture rather than allowing culture to shape their beliefs. Sabrina also emphasizes the importance of every believer being able to clearly explain what they believe, why they believe it, and where those beliefs are rooted in God’s Word. She discusses the value of both biblical and cultural research, equipping Christians to engage today’s challenges with confidence, truth, and grace. It’s one thing to say, “This is what I believe.” It’s another to explain those beliefs with a solid biblical foundation that points others back to Scripture. Whether you’re a new believer or someone seeking to strengthen your faith, this conversation will encourage, challenge, and equip you to think biblically and live faithfully. Join us for another insightful conversation with Sabrina McDonald—you’ll come away with practical tools to help you develop a stronger biblical worldview.
