What V-Bar angle should you use on your bow? | Archery Guide

If you're setting up side rods for the first time, you may be wondering where they should point—and whether changing their angle actually makes a difference. In this video, we cover the basics of V-Bar or single side rod angles, how they change your bow's center of gravity, and how those changes affect both aiming and bow reaction after the shot. Chapters 00:00 What V-Bar Angle Should You Start With? 00:22 Fixed vs Adjustable V-Bars 00:42 V-Bar Angles 101 01:00 How Side Rod Angles Change Center of Gravity 01:31 Lowering / Raising Your Side Rods 02:14 Wider / Narrower Side Rod Angles 03:18 Should Beginners Experiment? 03:41 How to Make Useful Adjustments 04:15 When Should You Change Your V-Bar Angle? 04:37 Where to Go From Here Not sure where to start? Don't overthink it. For a newer archer, we recommend starting around 45° × 0° and spending your time shooting rather than constantly changing your equipment. Once you have enough experience to identify something specific you'd like to change about how your bow aims or reacts, that's when an adjustable V-Bar becomes a useful tuning tool. As a simple rule, there are two main reasons to change your V-Bar angle: 1. Change how the bow aims before the shot. 2. Change how the bow reacts after the shot. Any side rod adjustment is ultimately affecting one or both of those variables. 🏹 Shop RamRods stabilizers, V-Bars & accessories: https://ramrodsarchery.com 🌐 Learn more about Archery Stabilizer set up https://ramrods.com/pages/ramrods-learning What V-Bar or side rod angle do you use on your bow? Why Do Bows Have Those Long Rods? | Archery Stabilizers Explained

If you're new to archery, you may have wondered: what are those long rods sticking out of competition bows—and what do they actually do? They're called stabilizers, and they play an important role in how a bow aims, feels, and reacts during and after the shot. In this beginner-friendly guide, we break down what archery stabilizers are, how they work, and why different archers use different stabilizer setups. You'll learn: What a bow stabilizer is Why stabilizers have weights on the ends How stabilizers help a bow aim more steadily How they reduce vibration after the shot How stabilizers affect bow balance and movement Why longer stabilizers can provide more stability What front rods, side rods, V-Bars, and offset mounts do Why recurve and compound archers use different stabilizer setups Stabilizers can look complicated when you're first getting into archery, but the basic idea is simple: they help make the bow more stable, more predictable, and easier for the archer to control.
