The Redemptive Enterprise 6: Escape the Corruption of the World & Invest for Kingdom Impact

Corrupt socioeconomic systems incentivize entitlement and rent-seeking, which can tempt us to view profit and wealth as the goal. However, wealth is NOT a finish line, but a tool entrusted to us for the purpose of Kingdom Impact. God will hold us accountable for how we utilize our wealth either for worldly purposes or for God's redemptive purposes. In today's episode, we finish looking at Redemptive Economic Principle #4... "We reject idleness and dependence on coercive redistribution, instead choosing to create, build, and invest wisely, knowing that we will give an account for our management of God’s resources." In this session we'll finish looking at Luke 12’s parable of the rich fool and the returning master imagery, which condemns selfish hoarding. Instead, the bible teaches that wealth should circulate to serve others and build kingdom impact. The Redemptive Enterprise 5: Unmasking American Socialism, A Biblical Challenge to Idleness & Coercive Redistribution

The United States has been a socialist country since at least the turn of the 20th century, dependent on coercive redistribution and crony capitalism. So, what does the bible have to say about creating value and doing business in a culture characterized by idleness and complacency? In today's episode, we begin looking at Redemptive Economic Principle #4... "We reject idleness and dependence on coercive redistribution, instead choosing to create, build, and invest wisely, knowing that we will give an account for our management of God’s resources." We examine Luke 12:13-48, where a man demands Jesus redistribute wealth for his own selfish purposes. Instead of playing economic enforcer, Jesus warns against greed and the desire for possessions through the parable of the rich fool. All productivity ultimately depends on God's sovereignty, not human effort alone. Therefore, God calls us to entrust all of our productive efforts to him, as a redemptive force that serves kingdom purposes rather than participating in corrupt economic systems. The Redemptive Enterprise 4: How to Unlock Your Comparative Advantage for Kingdom Impact

As stewards of God’s resources, we should invest where we have specialized knowledge, God-given talents, and vocational calling so we can serve others effectively and glorify God. Today, we finish looking at Redemptive Economic Principle #3... As stewards of God’s resources, we invest in areas where we have specialized knowledge, God-given talents, and vocational calling. This ‘comparative advantage’ enables us to serve others most effectively while glorifying God. From 1 Corinthians 12 Mike argues that confessing, “Jesus is Lord,” carries theological and political-economic implications, making economic activity non-neutral and every economic decision an act of allegiance. Mike explains that spiritual gifts are divinely distributed “capital” for the common good, compares the body metaphor to economic interdependence and comparative advantage, and stresses that efficiency without agape love is empty.
