S2E19: Aggies Are Never Alone: Mental Health with Student Assistance Services

May is Mental Health Awareness Month — and this episode, we're here to remind you that no Aggie has to struggle alone. There is a network of support and care here at Texas A&M.   Host Elizabeth Drake sits down with the Student Assistance Services (SAS) team inside Texas A&M's Student Life for an honest conversation about the mental health challenges college students face and the resources that exist to help them through it.  SAS serves as a landing place for Aggies who may need a hand up, but aren't sure where to turn. Think of them as problem solvers who help make a university of 80,000 feel a little smaller, whether you're dealing with financial stress, relationship struggles, academic overwhelm, or something you can't quite put into words yet. The team breaks down the real signs that it might be time to reach out, tackles the stigma that keeps too many students suffering in silence, and explains what actually happens when you walk through their door for the first time & more. It's okay to not be okay, and SAS is here to help you figure out the next step. Want to reach SAS? Visit Suite 209 in the Student Services Building, call (979) 845-3113, email studentlife@tamu.edu, or submit a Tell Somebody report at tellsomebody.tamu.edu. S2E17: Carrying Aggie Traditions Forward @ Texas A&M

Aggie traditions are more than events on a calendar, they connect a community that spans generations.  In this episode of On Air with Student Affairs, host Elizabeth Drake sits down with three seniors who didn't just participate in Texas A&M traditions, but found a personal connection and a place to carry that forward. Hailey Hofstetter, Chair of the TAMU Traditions Council, Truett Marrs, Vice Chair of the Traditions Council, and Tomas Heredia, 2026 Muster Chair, each found their own path into the world of Aggie traditions. From their first moments as Aggies to stepping into student leadership roles dedicated to preserving what makes this university unlike any other, their stories are a testament to the power of showing up and getting involved. At the center of it all are Silver Taps and Muster — two of the most solemn and sacred traditions in Aggieland. Ceremonies honoring Aggies we have lost and moments where the Aggie spirit is felt most deeply. Behind beloved Texas A&M traditions like Silver Taps and Muster are dedicated students like Hailey, Truett, and Tomas who work year round to make these events happen with the care and reverence they deserve. Watch the full episode to hear their stories and if you've never attended an Aggie tradition before,  this episode will help you find your own 'why' to get involved. S2E14: Student Research at an R1 University: Inside Student Research Week at Texas A&M

What happens when thousands of Aggies bring their research into one room for a week? Innovation, inspiration and career transformation. In this episode of On Air with Student Affairs, host Elizabeth Drake sits down with the student committee behind Texas A&M's Student Research Week (SRW) to talk about student research happening on campus and what makes this symposium unlike anything else in the nation.  As an R1 research institution, Texas A&M students don't only get to benefit from this designation, they get to contribute to it and SRW is proof of that. From biomedical labs to public health fieldwork & nearly every other discipline you can imagine, these students aren't just studying the world, they're actively working to change it. Whether you're a seasoned researcher or someone new to presenting who doesn't think their work is "ready yet" this episode is for you. Spoiler: it is ready, and there's nothing to lose by showing up. Any Aggie can participate in Student Research Week and gain valuable skills along the way. Student Research Week 2026 runs March 16–20. Abstracts are due March 3rd. Our pro-tip?
