Resilience & Mindset in the Face of Adversity with Marcos Jarvis

Have you ever met someone who would run to their chemotherapy treatment 6 miles (each way) in the snow?!  I met Marcos in Poland last December at the Wim Hof Method Instructor Advanced training camp. I knew I recognised him, and I just assumed it was from the training webinars. Then he started telling me his story, and I remembered why I recognised him. He was on a Podcast with Wim a few years ago. He was the crazy (but brilliant) guy who used to run in the snow just in shorts to his chemo appointments…… Marcos has an incredible story of resilience, recovery and power of the mind. He was diagnosed with stage 4 incurable liver cancer, assigned to a hospice and told there was nothing they could do apart from palliative chemo……he is now 4 years cancer free! In this conversation he shares his process and how he took the power back. The thing I really love is that the steps he took are simple yet powerful and accessible to us all. Small consistent changes make huge differences to our health in the long run. Here’s how you can connect with Marcos: https://www.warriorsbreath.life  https://activities.wimhofmethod.com/instructors/marcos-jarvis https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555305495751  The book Marcos mentioned: The Truth About Cancer by Ty Bollinger https://amzn.eu/d/02c46wDC  I hope this episode plants a seed that will grow and make you happier, healthier and stronger All the love and all the power Damon xx

  2. Embracing Uncertainty - Challenging times are when we grow the most.

Embracing Uncertainty - Challenging times are when we grow the most.

After an inconclusive scan on Monday that temporarily rocked me, I thought it useful to make this episode and share how I was feeling and how it effected me, how I am now,  and my process and my plan moving forwards, still with a goal of getting the all clear.  Everyday the universe is putting opportunities in front of us.  Sometimes they don’t look like opportunities and they look bloody scary.  If you can slow things down and take a moment and look past your initial reaction, there is an opportunity there that you have the choice to embrace.  That opportunity is one of growth, a chance to find out who you really are and prove to yourself what you’re really capable of. The chances are that by seeing and taking that opportunity, you bring a load of people along the way and you all grow together. I hope this episode helps you take your power back with whatever you’re going through in life. I hope it helps you realise that vulnerability is power. That on the other side of fear is a door to a whole new world, a world of possibility, love and power. The only difference between the two worlds is how you’re looking at them. You are stronger than you think. Far stronger. If you and your team, company or club want to hear my talk “Brain-Freeze, Breathe and Believe - Challenging times are when we grow the most” please get in touch and we can figure out a time and date. The talk is free but it would be lovely if you offered a small donation or covered travel costs. The choice is yours. It also feels like a good time to highlight that I have a workshop on Resilience, Understanding Stress and also  at the heart of the Wim Hof Method workshops are peace, power and resilience. Get in touch and I can share more and you can figure out if they might be the right fit for what your business needs. Overcoming AutoImmune Disease - The power of reconnecting with yourself.

In this episode of Raw and Real Healing, host Damon welcomes Naomi Maggs, a Yoga and Wim Hof Method instructor, to share her transformative journey from struggling with chronic fatigue and autoimmune issues to discovering the healing powers of breathwork and yoga. Naomi discusses the impact of stress and grief on her health, her awakening to the importance of listening to her body, and how the Wim Hof Method has empowered her to reclaim her vitality. The conversation emphasizes the ongoing journey of healing, self-discovery, and the importance of community support in wellness. In this engaging conversation, Damon Bowen-Ashwin and Naomi Maggs explore the profound connection between yoga, mindfulness, and personal growth. They discuss the importance of embracing vulnerability, the dual role of a yoga teacher, and how yoga serves as a tool for emotional and physical balance. Naomi shares her personal journey as a yogi, emphasizing the significance of mindset and determination in overcoming challenges. The discussion also highlights the power of the body-mind connection, ancient practices in modern life, and the necessity of self-care and maintenance. Ultimately, they stress the importance of acceptance, emotional awareness, and finding balance in navigating life's imperfections, encouraging listeners to connect with their bodies for healing and empowerment. Connect with Naomi: Website is www.naomi-recharge.com Email: me@naomi-recharge.com   Naomi is a Yoga Teacher and Breathwork coach from Bristol. She started practicing Iyengar Yoga in 2009 when she was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME. Prior to that she was a runner, regularly doing 10ks and half marathons, but her illness meant that she couldn’t run to the end of the road without pain and exhaustion setting in. The way that yoga created energy, rather than burnt it up was quite overwhelming for her. It was quite clear that yoga wasn’t just ‘exercise’ and she fell in love with it from the first class! Naomi completed 2 years of Iyengar Yoga teacher training 2016. She travelled to India to complete a month of study at the Iyengar Institute in Pune in 2019. In 2014, she discovered the Wim Hof Method.  The breathwork, in particular, was like finding the missing piece of her wellness puzzle. In 2023 she completed her Master Module for the Wim Hof Method in the Pyrenees, and became an instructor.    Naomi is now fully recovered from CFS/ME.  What topics around health and wellbeing would you like to hear more about? Do you know someone with a story that demonstrates the power of the body and mind? I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did recording it……enjoy :-) All the love Damon xx
