Ranked top 5% globally Are you a successful and well-rounded individual, but are lacking spiritual fulfillment in your life?  Do you consider yourself to be Christian, and grew up Catholic, but your family never really practiced?  And, maybe they did.  But, as an adult, you have become totally withdrawn from the Church?  Have you experienced trials and tribulations and have sought out answers except for the Faith?  But, you would like to learn more to see if the Catholic faith is a path you'd like to consider?    If this is you?  You are in the right place.  I want to encourage you to take time to explore your Catholic Christian Faith.  I want to remind you that you are a loved, valued and an integral part of the Catholic Church Family founded by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  And, there is nothing he wants more than to welcome you home. Hi, I am Cathy Jo Lang, daughter of The One True King.  And, I am excited to welcome you to “The Unplanned Joyful Life” podcast.  I am a practicing Catholic who recommitted to my Catholic Christian faith after experiencing a mental health crisis over 30 years ago.  I suffered a severe postpartum depression that required a 3 week hospitalization and caused me to be away from my newborn baby at a time that he needed me the most.   When recovering from the depression, I searched for any and all help to deal with the guilt, shame and condemnation this experience brought.  And, in order to decrease my chances of going through another mental health crisis, I decided to search, understand and embrace my Catholic Christian Faith.  And, it was there, that I experienced complete healing, wholeness and transformation, never to suffer a depression again.   Through our Catholic faith, Jesus became the firm foundation on which my husband, Steve and I were able to build a beautiful family, full of love, life and purpose for our children and grandchildren. And, although I would like to say to that we never experienced a trial or tribulation since.  In 2019, we suffered the tragic lost our beautiful son Michael Robert at the age of 26.  Michael suffered from a rare and chronic health condition without a sufficient medical diagnosis.  This illness caused him chronic pain, fatigue, and isolation amongst many other symptoms, too many to mention.  And, although his passing was devastating, we were able to receive God's healing, grace and provision through the mourning and grief we suffered as a family.    I never thought I could get through the loss of a child.  And, I don't wish that hardship on anyone.  But, because of our Catholic Christian Faith, Steve, myself and our other two children, Stephen and Elizabeth were able to lean on, trust in and practice the one true faith, Catholicism.  And, although it took the love, provision and healing power of God, as well as the support of our family and friends, we were able to experience peace, hope and love in the midst of tragedy.  We know that Michael is with Jesus.  And, we look forward to the day that we will meet and embrace him again in our Heavenly Home.   Besides being wife, mom and grandmother, I am a Certified Professional Life Coach, Public Speaker and Podcast Host of The Unplanned Joyful Life.  I grew up in a loving but alcoholic and dysfunctional family.  After going to group counseling with my family at the direction of our parents, I felt hope and excitement for the idea that change is possible.  I saw my parents make significant transformation over time in order to bring health and wellness back to our family.  And, I've been on a mission to live my best life ever since.   In this podcast, I’ll provide valuable insights to help you delve into  the Catholic Faith, bring better understanding to the Church, it's practices and the benefits you will receive when practicing it on a regular basis.  All this will help you become the best version of yourself.  I will share “tried-and-true” tips an

    # 193 What does it take to Actively Pursue Your Catholic Faith? 10 Aspects that make you a Practicing Catholic.

⭐️ Today's Topic: What does it mean to be a Practicing Catholic? What it means to be a Practicing Catholic:  1.You’ve been baptized by the church.   2. You have or are in the process of receiving the 7 sacraments appropriately.   3. Minimally, you attend mass on Sundays and on Holy days of obligation.  January 1: Solemnity of Mary May 14: Ascension of Jesus — Celebrated on the sixth Thursday after Easter Sunday* August 15: Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary* November 1: Solemnity of All Saints December 8: Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary December 25: Christmas  4. Receive the sacrament of Holy Eucharist at list once a year during the Easter season.   5. Receive the sacrament of reconciliation at least once a year.   6. Fast and abstain from meat on designated Holy days like Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.   7. Support the Church through donation of time, money and/or talents.   8. Accept the core beliefs of the Creed.   The Nicene Creed I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen. 9. Try to live by the 10 Commandments and church moral teachings.   Catholics follow a traditional order, largely influenced by St. Augustine’s teachings: I am the Lord your God; you shall have no other gods before me. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Honor your father and your mother. You shall not kill. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods. 10. Use these 1st 9 ways as a guide but be open to exploring and expanding your practices to encourage life and growth in the faith:  a. Attend a Bible Study  b. Attend Eucharistic adoration  c. Attend daily mass   d. Pray the Rosary  e. # 190 How Do I Deal with the Challenges of living a Life of Faith? 10 Ways to Live in this World, But to Not be of This World

⭐️ Today's Topic:  How do I combat the challenges that come with living a life of faith?  10 habits to help you live in this world but not be of this world?  Matthew 22:37-40.   New Catholic Bible 37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and the first commandment. 39 The second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 Everything in the Law and the Prophets depends on these two commandments.” Matthew 7     New Catholic Bible Chapter 7 1-5 1 “Do not judge, so that you in turn may not be judged. 2 For you will be judged in the same way that you judge others, and the measure that you use for others will be used to measure you.3 “Why do you take note of the splinter in your brother’s eye but do not notice the wooden plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove that splinter from your eye,’ while all the time the wooden plank remains in your own? 5 You hypocrite! First remove the wooden plank from your own eye, and then you will be able to see clearly enough to remove the splinter from your brother’s eye.   10 Ways To Live in this world, But not be of this world: How to Combat the Challenges that come witLiving a Life of Faith  1. Practice your faith regularly: Daily Prayer, Weekly Mass, Receive the Sacraments appropriately 2. Surround yourself with the word of God: Read scripture, Listen to Christian Music, Watch Faith-Based Entertainment, Read Books by Catholic/ Christian Authors, Attend Catholic/Christian Speaking Events.   3. When Socializing with Non-believers, consider who is affecting who?  Is good coming from the situation?  Pray over situation and what you are directed to by the Holy Spirit.   4. Take time to get to know the Holy Trinity; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Have a relationship with each.  And take time to reflect on where the Spirit is leading you.   5. Get to know the Saints: Who are they?  How were they challenged?  And, how did they overcome struggles?   6. Choose to love all God’s Children.  7. Give Grace  8. Recognize the gifts of non-believers: Realize that although, they may not have accepted God into their lives, they are still God’s children. 9.  When you feel Lonely, rejected, disappointed, heartbroken, or remorseful, remember that Jesus knows how we feel: Jesus sent his Holy Spirit to be with us.  We are never alone.  And, we can be united with Christ through our suffering.   10. Spend extra time in prayer and reflection: Pray the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chapel, Novenas or Eucharistic Adoration.   ⭐️ Your Host: Cathy Jo Lang As a Catholic Life Coach, Speaker and Host of The Unplanned Joyful Life Podcast, it is important for Cathy Jo to support you on your Personal Faith Journey.  In this podcast, she provides you with important topics, in-depth conversation and valuable resources that will help you to become all that God created you to be!.   As a seasoned Registered Nurse, Cathy Jo is experienced in meeting the needs of those she serves.  She provides information on her podcast, and expertise through her coaching services, that will help you become more aware, informed and fulfilled in every area of your life. # 189. Why Do You Put Off Practicing Your Catholic Christian Faith? 5 Challenges that come with Choosing to Live "IN" this World, but Not "OF" this World

⭐️ Today's Topic: Challenges that come with living in this world but not being of this world:     *John 15:18: New Catholic Bible  18“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first”   *Luke 6/22: New Catholic Bible 6“Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you,  revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.    *Matt 10:22: New Catholic Bible  22 “You will be hated by all because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved”.           5 Challenges that come from choosing to live in this world but not of this world: 1. Loneliness-Your personal relationship with Christ is unique, making it different than your relationship with anyone else.  When surrounded by non believers, it is easy to feel misunderstood and for your beliefs to seem trivial or unimportant to others.  This can result in a sense of loneliness as we do not feel understood or accepted by others   2. Rejection-Because of our relationship with Christ, we will have times that we cannot go along with the crowd, or we may need to hold our ground on certain beliefs that can make nonbelievers feel uncomfortable.  These are are couple examples of when and why others might reject us.  3. Disappointment-As Christians, we are meant to share the light and love of Christ with others.  But often, those we try to share our faith with, decline our invitation.  And, because our faith is something that we place a high priority, is something we cherish and are passionate about, we want to share it with others.  So, when others choose not to embrace their faith, we cannot help but feel disappointed.  4. Heartache-Because of our Catholic Christian Faith, we are meant to love, serve and empathize with others.  We are meant to live with are hearts wide open and sensitive to others’ needs.  But, in doing so, we feel deeply.  And, because we feel deeply, we have a sensitivity to others’ struggles and pain.  Whether others’ pain comes in the form of harsh words and behaviors or obvious tears and pain, we experience heartache for those in need.      5. Remorse-Remorse is something that we may experience when we make mistakes or commit sin. We may feel an increased sense of guild or even shame, we are first called to embrace our faith.  Prior to choosing to accept Jesus into our lives, we most likely were living a life that didn’t reflect the light and love of Christ.  We may feel guilty or sorrowful over things we’ve said or done that were wrong. And, as Christians, whenever we sin, we feel remorse. # 188: What does it mean to live in this world but not be of this world ? 7 Points to Understand One of Our Biggest Challenges as Christians

⭐️ Today's Topic: Living in this world but not of this world  John 17:16-26 16 They do not belong to the world any more than I belong to the world.   17 “Consecrate them in the truth.Your word is truth.  18   As you sent me into the world, so have I sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I consecrate myself, so that they too may be consecrated in truth. 20 “I pray not only on behalf of these, but also for those who through their word will come to believe in me. 21 May they all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I in you, may they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 “The glory that you have given me I have given to them, so that they may be one, as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, and thus the world may know that you have sent me and that you have loved them even as you have loved me. 24 “Father, allow those you have given me to be with me where I am, so that they may behold my glory, which you have bestowed on me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25 “Righteous Father, the world has not known you; I have known you, and they have known that you have sent me.   26 I have made your name known to them, and I will make it known,  so that the love with which you loved me may be in them and them in me.   To Summarize the idea of living in this world but not of the world: 1.Choosing to receive the truth that comes from  Jesus which was given to him by God.   2.Living by God’s standards vs mans’ standards.  3.Making choices and prioritizing the things of heaven as opposed to the things of this world.  4.Growing your character according to the laws of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ,  not by the expectations of man. 5.Being surrounded by what is evil but choosing to do what is good. 6. Considering a variety of perspectives  but prioritizing what we know and have learned to be the one true perspective  of our Father through knowing the Son 7. The things of this world represent things created and manipulated by man,  Christian teachings represent that created and taught by God.
