Romans: New Life, New Desires

This sermon explores the practical implications of salvation as presented in Romans 6, arguing that grace fundamentally transforms a believer's desires and relationship with sin. The central message is that those who are united with Christ in His death are no longer slaves to sin but are freed to live in newness of life. The exposition highlights three key shifts: a new desire for a holy life distinct from the world, a new desire for freedom from the bondage of worldly pleasures, and a new desire to present oneself to God as an instrument of righteousness. The tone is convicting and instructional, challenging the modern tendency to use grace as a license for sin and urging believers to recognize their identity as dead to the old self and alive to God.

Romans: Two Men, Two Outcomes

This sermon explores the theological contrast between Adam and Jesus Christ as presented in Romans 5, emphasizing how sin and death entered the world through one man's disobedience. The speaker argues that while the law revealed human inability to meet God's standards, it ultimately highlighted the abundance of grace available through Christ's righteous act. Central to the message is the concept of justification, where believers are declared completely innocent not by their own works but by the blood of Jesus covering their sins. The preacher warns against relying on religious rituals or moral achievements for salvation, asserting that only faith in Christ's finished work ensures eternal life. Ultimately, the text calls listeners to rest in the certainty that grace reigns through righteousness, securing their standing before God.

Romans: Therefore

This sermon explores the theological implications of Romans chapter five, emphasizing that justification by faith establishes a permanent peace with God and grants believers access to divine grace. The preacher argues that this new status allows Christians to find hope amidst tribulation, as suffering produces perseverance and character rooted in God's love. By contrasting human inability to save themselves with Christ's sacrificial death for sinners, the text highlights the magnitude of God's reconciling work. The message concludes that understanding these truths should not remain academic but must result in a transformed life characterized by deeper love for God and active service to others.

Romans: Abraham Believed God

This sermon explores the doctrine of justification by faith alone, using Abraham as the primary example from Romans 4. It contrasts human works and religious rituals with God's grace, explaining that righteousness is imputed to believers solely through trust in Christ rather than earned by merit. The preacher emphasizes that salvation is a gift received by believing in Jesus' death and resurrection, ensuring that all glory belongs to God. This theological foundation applies equally to Jews and Gentiles, establishing faith as the only requirement for being counted righteous before God.

Romans: The Just Shall Live By Faith

The sermon examines Romans 3:21-31 to establish that all humanity is universally sinful and falls short of God's glory, leaving no room for self-justification or modern victimhood narratives. It argues that God's righteousness is revealed through faith in Jesus Christ, who serves as the propitiation that appeases divine wrath. The preacher emphasizes that justification is a free gift received solely through faith, not by works, thereby eliminating any basis for human boasting. This theological framework resolves the conundrum of how a just God can forgive sinners without compromising His own holiness. Ultimately, the message calls listeners to acknowledge their total depravity and place their trust exclusively in Christ for salvation.

The Lord's Supper Remembering Christ Together

The sermon emphasizes the biblical necessity of adhering strictly to Scripture regarding the two church ordinances, baptism and the Lord's Supper. It establishes that communion is exclusively for redeemed believers and functions as a corporate ordinance for the local church rather than an individual ritual. The preacher argues against modern consumerist or legalistic distortions by highlighting the context of 1 Corinthians 11, where Paul corrects divisions and selfishness within the gathering. Central to the message is the call to view the Lord's Supper as a solemn memorial of Christ's finished work on the cross, requiring deep reflection on His sacrifice rather than superficial participation. The ultimate intent is to direct believers' focus away from self and toward Jesus Christ, urging them to partake in a manner that honors His death until He returns.

Biblical Baptism

This sermon defines biblical baptism as a vital act of obedience for believers, distinct from the mechanism of salvation itself. The speaker emphasizes that only those who have repented and trusted in Christ are the proper candidates for this ordinance. It further explains that immersion is the required mode, serving as a symbolic picture of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. Additionally, the message asserts that baptism must be administered by a local church, which holds the authority to perform this rite. The central intent is to clarify misconceptions about infant sprinkling and to encourage new believers to publicly identify with Christ through proper church membership and baptism.
