Welcome to the Camp Point Assembly Podcast. We are a Spirit-filled, multi-generational church serving Camp Point, Illinois and the surrounding communities in Western Illinois. Our heart is simple: to pursue God together and grow in faith as we Live Life Together. Each week we share the sermons from our Sunday services as we explore God’s Word, worship Him with our lives, and encourage one another to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.     Don't Make it Harder - Part 2 | Making Room For One Another

    “The grace that saves us should shape the way we treat one another.” In Part 1 of Don't Make It Harder, we learned that salvation is a gift of God's grace—not something we can earn through religious rules or traditions. But once we understand that we're saved by grace, another important question remains: How should that grace change the way we treat one another? In Acts 15, the early church faced a difficult challenge. Jewish and Gentile believers came from different backgrounds, followed different traditions, and had different expectations. Yet God was calling them to become one church. In this message, we explore three important lessons: Don't Make It Difficult for People Turning to God — Stand firm on biblical truth without adding requirements God never commanded. Don't Confuse Your Freedom with Permission to Disregard Others — Learn from Paul's different decisions concerning Timothy and Titus, and discover why love sometimes means surrendering personal freedoms. Don't Let Your Preferences Become Someone Else's Burden — Recognize the difference between God's Word and our traditions while pursuing unity in Christ. From the clothes we wear to the way we worship, Christians won't always share the same preferences. But our differences should never distract us from the gospel or divide the family of God. Jesus didn't call us to find people who already think and act like us. He called us to make disciples. “Unity doesn't require identical preferences. It requires putting Jesus above our preferences.” As you listen, consider two questions: Have I turned a personal preference into a requirement for someone else? Am I willing to surrender a personal freedom for the sake of someone else? Remember: Don't make someone else carry a burden Jesus never placed on them.     Making Disciples | Missionaries to Lesotho, Africa Shannon & Becky Boehl

    Scripture: Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 1:8; Matthew 22:37–40 What does it really mean to follow Jesus and make disciples? This week at Camp Point Assembly, we welcomed Assemblies of God missionaries Shannon and Becky Boehl, who shared how God is moving in Lesotho, Africa. From training pastors and translating Bible college materials to reaching children through schools, planting churches, and serving mountain communities, their testimony reminds us of the incredible impact of missions. But their message wasn't just about what God is doing in Africa. It was also a challenge to each of us right here at home. In his message, “Making Disciples,” Shannon reminds us that the Great Commission isn't reserved for pastors or missionaries. Every believer is called to follow Jesus, grow in His Word, reflect His character, and help others become disciples. Through Scripture and personal experiences, Shannon challenges us to examine our priorities, lay aside prejudices, surrender our desires, and place our possessions under God's authority. Whether God calls us across the world or across the street, we all have a mission. Are we simply following Jesus, or are we making disciples who make disciples?     Don't Make It Harder — Part 1: The Burden of SalvationActs 15:1–18 | Camp Point Assembly What does it really take to be saved? Is faith in Jesus Christ enough, or are there additional requirements we must meet? In Part 1 of Don't Make It Harder, Pastor Dan explores one of the most important debates in the early church. In Acts 15, Jewish and Gentile believers wrestled with a question that would shape the future of Christianity: Must Gentiles follow the Law of Moses to receive salvation? Through Peter's testimony, the Jerusalem Council, and the promises of Scripture, we discover that salvation isn't something we can earn through religious traditions, good works, or personal effort. It is a gift made possible through the grace of Jesus Christ. As we conclude with Communion, we're reminded of a powerful truth: “You cannot earn what Jesus has already paid for.” Join us as we examine the difference between religious burdens and the freedom found in Christ.     We live with access to the entire world in the palm of our hands—and sometimes we carry the weight of that whole world with us. Guest speaker Pastor Roy Rhodes, Assistant District Superintendent, shares from Matthew 6:25–34 about anxiety, information overload, and Jesus’ call not to carry tomorrow’s troubles today. Pastor Roy challenges us to intentionally make our world smaller at times: step away from the noise, spend time in God’s Word, and simply enjoy the presence of our Father. As we shut out some of the noise and draw closer to God, He restores our souls and replaces anxiety with His peace, rest, joy, and hope. “Make your world smaller. Spend time in His Word. Spend time in His presence. And just be quiet for a while, and you'll find peace and rest and joy returning to your life.” At the end of the service, we have a special Baby Dedication Rev.     Open Up - Living Life Together

    You Weren’t Meant to Carry Life Alone | Galatians 6:2–3 We’re often good at showing people the version of our lives that looks put together. We smile, say we’re doing great, and keep what’s really happening outside the picture hidden. But God never intended us to go through life carrying our burdens alone. In this message, Pastor Dan continues the Living Life Together series by looking at what it means to move beyond simply making room for others and actually opening our lives to one another. Through Galatians 6, we see how pride can cause us to hide our struggles, why vulnerability requires both courage and trustworthy people, and how God can use even our weaknesses and difficult seasons to encourage someone else. Sometimes two of the most powerful words we can say are “Me too.” What God has brought you through may be exactly what someone else needs to hear. And ultimately, there is One who already knows everything happening outside the picture—Jesus. He knows the real you, loves you, and invites you to come to Him just as you are.     Living Life Together: What Some Inherited, Everyone Is Searching For

    Some of us have been blessed with community our entire lives. We have family, lifelong friendships, and people we know we can count on. But when we've always had something, it can be easy to forget what it's like not to have it. In this message, Pastor Dan challenges us from Hebrews 13 and Romans 12 to keep loving the family—but not forget the stranger. Biblical hospitality is more than being friendly; it's making room for someone else in the life we're already living. Through Christ, we who were once outsiders have been brought near and made part of God's family. As followers of Jesus, we're called to extend that same invitation to others—to pull up another chair and show them what it means to truly Live Life Together.     Perfect God – Imperfect People | Acts 12:12–24 & Acts 14:11–18

    God doesn’t need perfect people to accomplish His purposes. In this message, Pastor Dan looks at three moments from Acts that reveal imperfect faith, the danger of pride, and the importance of giving God the glory. From a church praying for Peter while struggling to believe their prayer had been answered, to Agrippa accepting praise that belonged to God, to Paul and Barnabas immediately redirecting worship toward the Lord, we’re reminded that what we know about God should change how we respond to Him.     The King Isn’t Done — God Isn’t Out of Moves Yet | Acts 12:1–11

    What do you do when the situation looks impossible and you feel completely helpless? In Acts 12, Peter sits chained between soldiers, awaiting what appears to be certain death. James has already been killed, Herod seems to have won, and there is nothing Peter can do to change his circumstances. Yet Peter sleeps in peace, the church prays earnestly, and God does what only God can do. The chains fall, the doors open, and Peter walks free. But this story also raises a difficult question: Why was Peter delivered while James was martyred? Faith doesn’t mean God always gives us the outcome we want. It means we remain faithful and trust His sovereignty even when we don’t understand His decisions. This message challenges us not to lose heart when our backs are against the wall. Pray. Invite others to pray with you. Trust God with what you cannot control. Because no matter how impossible the circumstances appear, God isn’t out of moves.
