Why Your Marketing Feels So Hard (Even Though You’re Good At What You Do)

If you’ve ever sat down to create content and found yourself staring at a blank screen wondering what to say, this episode is for you. Many service providers believe they need more content ideas, a better content plan, or more discipline when it comes to marketing. But after more than 12 years helping business owners grow, I’ve noticed something different. Most people don’t have a content problem. They have a clarity problem. In this episode, I unpack why marketing feels harder than it needs to, why creating more content isn’t usually the answer, and what I’ve found actually helps service providers market themselves more consistently and attract better-fit clients. I also share some behind-the-scenes insights from my own business, including why I recently revisited my messaging and positioning after celebrating the first birthday of my business growth program, Get Clear & Grow. In this episode you’ll learn: • Why knowing what to say in your marketing isn’t really a content issue • The hidden reason marketing feels harder than it should • What service providers often get wrong when trying to become more visible • Why clarity is the foundation of effective marketing • The four things successful service providers are clear on • How refining your positioning can make marketing, sales, and decision-making easier • Why more content isn’t always the answer • A simple question to ask yourself if you’re feeling stuck with your marketing WANT MORE? Why Your Discovery Calls Feel So Hard Right Now (And What to Do Instead)

Ever hung up from a sales call thinking, that should have been a yes… so why didn't it land? If you're experienced, credible, and your work genuinely gets results, sales conversations shouldn't feel this difficult. Yet many service providers finish calls with vague "let me think about it" responses, pricing discomfort, or prospects who disappear after the call. In this episode, I unpack why sales calls feel harder than they should right now and the real reason many of them stall out. It's not your personality, and it's not a confidence problem. (I also share my free Sales Call Guide, you can grab it here.) It's structure. When sales calls lack structure, the conversation drifts. You end up over-explaining your offer, under-charging in the moment, missing the questions that reveal whether someone is truly ready to invest, and finishing the call without a clear next step. The good news is that structure can be learned. Once you understand how a strong sales conversation is designed, everything changes. Calls become calmer, clearer, and far more effective. Inside this episode, I share the most common breakdown points I see in sales conversations and how to start shifting them so your calls feel natural, confident, and aligned. I also talk about my own relationship with sales, why I've always loved sales conversations more than marketing, and the lesson I learned while selling multi-six-figure contracts early in my career. The most effective sales conversations are not about persuasion or pressure. They are about connection, listening, and clarity. When those pieces are in place, the sale becomes the natural next step rather than something you have to force. You'll learn: • Why sales calls often feel draining even when prospects are interested • The real reason confidence doesn't fix sales problems • The five most common points where sales calls break down • What changes when you lead conversations with a clear structure • How to move from reactive calls to confident, guided conversations I also mention my free Sales Call Guide, which walks you through why sales calls feel so hard right now and what needs to shift so they start working consistently. It includes the story of one of my clients who went from inconsistent calls to signing three high-value clients in six weeks simply by changing the structure of her sales conversations. Grab the guide here. If sales calls have started to feel heavier, awkward, or unpredictable, this episode will help you see exactly why and what to do instead.

Waiting Until Things Calm Down Is the Fastest Way to Repeat Last Year

That voice that says "I'll work on it when things calm down" sounds sensible. It is also the fastest way to stay exactly where you are. In this episode, I unpack why calm rarely arrives on its own, how waiting quietly locks in last year's results, and why clarity is the thing that actually creates momentum, even when business feels full. In this episode Why waiting for calm keeps you stuck in the messy middleThe hidden cost of deferring clarity on your offer and messagingHow busyness disguises avoidance, even in successful businessesWhy clarity creates calm, not the other way aroundThe difference between readiness and decisionClient story I share the story of a fully booked parent coach who knew her business and audience were evolving. Instead of waiting for a quieter season that never came, she chose to create clarity while busy. With structure and support, she launched a new aligned offer and filled 18 spots, far beyond her original goal. Key ideas Waiting does not create readiness. A Better Way to Grow Your Business in 2026: Less Chaos, More Confidence (Ep. 66).

If growing your business has started to feel heavier than it should, this episode is for you. Many service providers reach a stage where they are capable, busy, and experienced but growth feels inconsistent, messy, or reactive. You want more confidence, more consistency, and more space, but the idea of "doing more" just feels exhausting. In this episode, I break down a better way to grow your business in 2026. One that is grounded in clarity and structure, not hustle or overwhelm. You will learn why trying to build your next level on outdated foundations creates frustration, how clarity unlocks confidence and momentum, and what actually needs to shift so your business can feel calmer, more aligned, and easier to run. This is not about adding more offers, content, or tactics. It is about refining the foundations so everything you do works harder for you. In this episode, we cover: Why your business can feel chaotic even when you are doing everything "right." The difference between busy growth and sustainable growth. Why clarity always comes before consistency. How outdated structures create resistance, overwhelm, and stop-start momentum. What it really takes to build a business that feels steady, confident, and aligned. Why refinement, not rebuilding, is the key to your next level. Who this episode is for: This episode is for established service-based business owners who want to grow in a way that feels confident, calm, and sustainable. Especially if you are tired of guessing, reacting, or feeling like growth always comes at the cost of your time or energy. Next step: If this episode resonates and you are ready for a clearer, more confident way to grow in 2026, you are invited to join The 2026 Business Reset, a free 30-minute masterclass. The Stage of Business Where Everything Starts to Feel Heavy and How to Make It Better (Ep. 65).

Your business looks fine from the outside, but behind the scenes it feels heavier than it should. You're busy, capable, and getting results, yet clarity feels elusive and growth feels overwhelming. In this episode, Esther Gretton breaks down why this stage is so common for service-based business owners a few years in, why it's not a personal failure, and what actually needs to change to move forward with confidence and calm. This is a conversation about the messy middle of business, what causes it, and how the right foundations can turn friction into momentum. In this episode, you'll learn: Why your business can feel messy even when you're good at what you do. What the "messy middle" really is, and why it's a stage, not a problem. The structural reasons growth starts to feel heavy instead of exciting. How unclear offers and messaging quietly cap your capacity. What shifts first when a business is ready for its next level. How clarity and structure make growth feel lighter, not harder. How to Finally Run the Business You Imagined for 2026 Without Spinning Your Wheels (Ep. 64).

Have you ever looked at your business and thought, "This isn't quite what I imagined it would feel like by now"? You wanted more freedom. More clarity. More ease. A business that felt good to run, not just busy to maintain. But instead, you're capable, booked, doing the work… and still feeling like you're spinning your wheels. In this episode, we're talking about why that happens and, more importantly, what actually needs to shift if you want 2026 to feel different. This isn't about doing more. It's not about adding another offer. And it's definitely not about pushing harder. It's about upgrading the structure holding your business so you can finally step into the next level you imagined when you started. In this episode, we cover: • Why the business you want for 2026 can't be built on the structure and habits you created years ago. • What the "messy middle" really is and why it's a sign you're ready for refinement, not reinvention. • The difference between effort-based growth and clarity-led growth. • Why doing more tasks won't create momentum, but refining your foundations will. • The three core shifts that help your business feel calmer, clearer, and more aligned. • How upgrading your structure unlocks consistency, confidence, and space. • What it actually looks like to plan from your next-level vision, not your current limitations. If this episode resonates, you might be feeling: • Busy but not fulfilled • Capable but unclear on your next move • Frustrated by inconsistent income • Tired of rebuilding every month • Ready for a business that feels calmer, simpler, and more intentional If that's you, this episode will help you see why nothing is "wrong" and where the real leverage point is for your next stage of growth. Why Your Business Feels Hard Right Now (and How Refinement Fixes It). (Ep. 63)

Does your business feel heavier than it should right now? Not in a dramatic, burn-it-all-down way, but in that quiet, constant exhaustion where you're always busy, always delivering, always trying… and yet things still don't feel smooth, consistent, or spacious. In this episode, I'm unpacking a belief shift that so many service-based business owners need at this stage of growth: 👉 Your business doesn't feel hard because you need to do more. 👉 It feels hard because what you already have hasn't been refined. Refinement is the missing piece that turns a busy business into a sustainable one. It's the bridge out of the messy middle and the key to creating consistency, confidence, and momentum without adding more to your plate. In this episode, we cover: Why feeling stuck or frustrated at this stage isn't failure, it's friction. The difference between adding more strategies and refining what already exists. Why AI and automation cannot fix unclear offers or messy delivery. The three core areas that typically need refining before growth feels easier. How refinement creates more profit, more time back, and more ease. What refinement actually looks like in a real, service-based business. You'll hear why refinement isn't about tearing everything down, it's about tightening, simplifying, and strengthening what's already working so your business can finally support you. If your business feels like: You're busy but under-earning. Delivery takes more time and energy than it should. Marketing feels inconsistent or reactive. Everything looks "fine" on the outside but chaotic on the inside. This episode will help you understand why — and what needs to shift next. 🎯 Ready to go deeper? If this episode is landing and you're ready to move out of the messy middle, I'd love to invite you to watch The Next Level Business Blueprint. Before You Plan 2026, You Need to Come Back to This One Thing (Ep 62).

Before you map out your 2026 offers, revenue goals or big "this year I'll finally…" plans, there's one thing most established business owners unintentionally skip. Your why. Your vision. The deeper driver that used to energise you… but may have quietly faded into the background. If you've been feeling a bit off, a bit directionless, or unsure what your next level actually looks like, this episode is your recalibration. You can't build the next stage of your business from a version of yourself you've already outgrown. And planning from overwhelm, fatigue or "what you've always done" only leads to the same year on repeat. In this episode, we dive into how to reconnect with the deeper clarity you need before you make any decisions about 2026. Because when you reconnect with your why and vision, everything else becomes sharper: your offers, structure, pricing, messaging and business model. We explore: • The subtle signs you've drifted away from your original why. • Why planning from your current overwhelm keeps you stuck. • How your next level comes from remembering, not adding more. • The three pillars of reconnecting with your why, vision and identity. • Why your foundations matter more than any strategy, system or automation. • The real story behind how I rebuilt my business in a completely different season of life. • How your vision influences your offers, boundaries, pricing, energy and capacity. Expect a grounded, honest conversation about what growth really requires in this stage of business and why clarity always comes before strategy. If you're feeling: • Booked and busy, but disconnected. • Like your business is working… but not for you. • Unsure what the next level realistically looks like. • Ready for more revenue, more space, and a more supportive structure. • Tired of planning from pressure or comparison. …this episode will help you get anchored again.
