Behind the Pages of Rewriting the Voice Within

Good morning, friends. 🧡 This morning I’m sharing a new video about why I created my newest journal, Rewriting the Voice Within. In the video, I read a passage from the journal, share one of today’s reflection questions, and invite you to spend a few quiet moments journaling with me. If you do, I’d truly love to hear from you. Did anything come up while you were writing? Was there a thought, a feeling, or even a small shift that surprised you? One of my favorite parts of this journey is hearing what resonates with you. There is so much happening behind the scenes right now, and I’m incredibly excited to bring you along. My first paperback journals are taking just a little longer than I hoped to get into print. It turns out the spine of a book and I are still learning how to be friends. 😊 We’re working through the right words, the right font, the right spacing... all the little details that make a book feel just right. I’m close. I know it. In the meantime, I’d love to invite you to visit TheBecomingSpaceWithDebbie.com. 📦 The Boxes Arrived… and So Did Another Dream

Good morning, (This video is just over 3 minutes long, and I truly hope you’ll think it’s worth the watch. 🤗) There are moments in life that remind you just how much can change in a year. This was one of them. The box you see me opening in this video isn’t just a box. It’s the first proof copies of my redesigned journals that I’m rereleasing on Etsy and, for the very first time ever, as paperback journals on Amazon. Never... ever... did I imagine I’d be creating paperback journals. That dream didn’t start with me. It started with Kevin. He looked at me one day and said he could see these journals becoming paperbacks. I’ll be honest... the idea felt overwhelming at first. But it also felt exciting. So I got to work. And yes... I know. I just redesigned these journals a couple of months ago. But that’s the beauty of becoming. When you feel the shift...When you feel the need for change...When you feel yourself being called to continue becoming... You step into it. That’s exactly what these journals are. As I’ve redesigned each one, I’ve answered every journal prompt myself. I’ve searched for just the right photograph, the right font, and the right colors because it isn’t just about the words inside. It’s about how the journal feels. I know I’ve found exactly the right combination when my eyes look at it, my mind becomes quiet, and my heart simply says... “Yes.” This is how I want it to go out into the world. Over the next couple of days, the first three paperback journals should be live on Amazon. Four more proof copies are on their way to me now, and after that... Only twenty more to redesign. 😊 And yes... I made a boo-boo. The first three journals that are currently in Amazon review have the wrong titles printed on the spine. Oops. I forgot to update them. The good news? I’ve already fixed the covers, and as soon as Amazon finishes reviewing them, I’ll upload the corrected versions. So... if you happen to order one before I can replace the cover... Congratulations! 🤗 You beat me to the fix. One day those first copies might even make us both smile. My goal is to have every journal redesigned and published before the end of the month. And I love having that goal. What I love even more is that I don’t feel pressure around it. I have a goal.I have a date.I know the actions I need to take. So I’ll keep taking the next step. If the end of the month comes and they’re not all finished... That’s okay. They’ll get done. They’ll find their way into the world exactly when they’re meant to. Lately I’ve been feeling so much excitement about where my Road to Becoming is leading. I love the energy around me. I love dreaming out loud with Kevin. Last night he was sharing ideas with such passion. He had vision. He had belief. He could see where this road is taking us. Then he looked at me and said something I’ll never forget. “I believe in you 100%. I know your heart. I know why you do this.” Not to sell journals. Not to sell books. But to help one person recognize their worth... their value... and to know they are not defined by their mistakes. They are strengthened because of them. Then he smiled and said, “You had a dream. You’ve had it for years. And it’s happening. We have the RV. We have Birdie. We have GPS. And we have a dream.” He’s right. We have the RV. We have Birdie. (Our new truck still makes me smile every time I say her name.) We have GPS. We have each other. And we have a dream that somehow keeps getting bigger than either of us imagined. These journals have become part of that dream... One I never even dreamed for myself. I can’t wait to see where the road to my becoming... ...our becoming... takes us next. Thank you for cheering us on, believing in us, and walking this road beside us. It means more than you’ll ever know. 🧡 Debbie Visit with me at The Becoming Space with Debbie #TheBecomingSpace #TheRoadToBecomingMe #PaperbackJournals #AmazonAuthor #EtsyCreator #WriterLife #DreamOutLoud #ChooseBecoming #PersonalGrowth #HealingJourney #CreativeJourney #DebbieSueLurvey This is a public episode. How a Book Cover Taught Me About Becoming

I have to laugh because I almost started this post by saying, “What a chore!” But the truth is, this has been a project unlike anything I’ve ever tackled. This morning, Kindle approved the paperback cover for The Road to Becoming Me. Submission #4 was finally the one. Now let me be honest... there were far more than four versions created along the way. 😂 Between Kindle, Canva, ChatGPT, Google, and every other tool I needed to figure out, I learned more than I ever imagined I would. I said, “I can’t do this,” more times than I can count. When I get frustrated, I tend to get quiet. I internalize it, and somehow that frustration turns into determination. Kevin could tell I had reached the end of my “I can try this one more time.” He suggested we hire someone to finish the cover and size it correctly for Kindle. I looked at him and said, “I am going to try one more time.” So I did. I copied and pasted a little differently. I stretched a few elements. I made a few more adjustments. Just a little more of this and a little more of that. And this time... it worked. Is it perfect? No. I can still point out the tiny things I wish were just a little different. But those tiny things don’t change the message of the cover, and they certainly don’t change the message of the book. So I called it done. Kindle agreed. This morning I received the email saying my paperback will be live on Amazon within the next three days. I honestly can’t believe I’m writing those words. A paperback book... that I wrote... will soon be available on Amazon. That is another one of those pinch me moments. The best part of this entire experience isn’t just that I published a book. It’s that I learned how. And that means next time will be easier. I absolutely love that... because there will be a next time. Here I am flipping through the latest proof, and I think it looks pretty damn perfect. I cannot wait to hold the very first edition of The Road to Becoming Me in my hands. YAY! ❤️ The Kindle edition is available now, and the paperback is coming very soon. The First Time I Held My Book

Good morning, I am beyond excited to have received the paperback proof of my book! There was nothing more exciting than going to the mailbox yesterday with Kevin and opening the box that held two copies of the book—one for me and one for him. We both stood there in the Havasu post office, just taking in the moment. Feeling the weight of the book. Touching the pages. Flipping from front to back. Looking at each other with so much pride, joy, excitement, and love. Then my toddler brain kicked in. “Oh my God... look at the cover.” It’s off-center. Words are cut off. It just looks awful. In an instant, I felt irritated and defeated. That beautiful moment of joy was quickly stolen by my critical inner voice. Then I reminded myself... This is the first book I have ever published. Until this project, I had never designed a full book cover. I had never created a paperback sleeve. I had never walked through this process before. When I remembered that, I looked at the cover differently. Instead of being irritated, I chose to celebrate it. It wasn’t perfect, but damn... it looked good. Allowing myself to set aside the judgment opened me up to spending the evening rereading the book. I honestly don’t know how many times I’ve read it now, but every single time I read it, I walk away with a different message. I made notes along the way for a few final adjustments, but I truly hope this is the last read-through before publication. Then, at 4:45 this morning, I was awakened by sweet Ellie Mae getting sick. My brain wouldn’t shut off, so I grabbed my phone, crept back into bed, and started working on the cover again. I want everything to be as close to right as I am capable of making it before I hit publish. I am one step closer. The s****y thoughts are still showing up to challenge me... and I keep answering them back. Yesterday, while I was holding the book, I looked at Kevin and said, “Who am I to be holding this book?” He didn’t hesitate. He simply looked at me and said, “You’re an author.” And he’s right. The Road to Becoming Me is just days away from being published, and I cannot wait to share it with all of you. Thank you for cheering me on, believing in me, and reminding me—sometimes before I can remind myself—that dreams really do become reality one imperfect step at a time. 🧡 Debbie #TheRoadToBecomingMe #AuthorJourney #Memoir #Becoming #PersonalGrowth #HealingJourney #WritingCommunity #FirstBook #WomenWhoWrite #DreamsInProgress #KeepGrowing #LakeHavasu #SelfDiscovery #BookLaunch #TheBecomingSpaceWithDebbie This is a public episode.
