Letting Go of 'Not Being Good Enough'

When did we start believing that anything less than flawless was unacceptable? As your mental health coach focused on cultivating joy, peace, rest, and softness, I'm tackling this question head-on while sharing my own bumpy journey. From missing my weekly upload schedule to recording with dead batteries and wearing the same outfit in multiple episodes, I've faced numerous "failures" by my perfectionist standards. Yet these imperfect moments have become my greatest teachers. In this episode, we explore the transformative journey of releasing perfectionism and embracing our imperfect selves. Things we explore:  • The unique pain of disappointing yourself versus disappointing others • Why being "okay with not being okay" is a crucial step toward growth • The perfectionist tendency to see things as having a "right way" and "wrong way" • How childhood experiences of either shame or praise shape perfectionist patterns • The importance of separating your worth from your performance • Understanding that failure doesn't make you a failure Your homework: Identify areas of your life where you've been beating yourself up about not being perfect. Reflect on where these feelings stem from and develop positive affirmations to counter negative self-talk. ~Where You Can Find Me~:  Spotify: open.spotify.com/show/5BbC588eUekngi5QkrRbss Apple Podcasts: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/i-can-faith-that/id1766168795 Tik Tok: @i.can.faith.that.podcast  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Restful-And-Softly-Rooted Sign Up For 1 to 1 Coaching With Me: www.trishjconsulting.com For business inquiries (collaborations, speaking engagements, sponsorships, etc): https://www.trishjconsulting.com/business-inquiry or email info@trishjconsulting.com. EP 18 | Beyond The Tears: Subtle Signs You're Actually Healing

Ever felt frustrated because you still experience unwanted sadness, jealousy, or anger over someone or something? Well, you're not alone. We all have things we want so desperately to be "healed from". What if I told you that you actually are healing? It just looks differently than you thought that it would. As your mental health coach, I share how true healing actually manifests in our lives—through subtle shifts. Healing doesn't mean never experiencing certain emotions again; rather, it shows up when you react differently than before. Maybe someone who could devastate you for a week now only affects you for a day. Perhaps you can genuinely wish an ex well when previously their mere existence irritated you. These incremental changes are powerful evidence of your growth journey. Subscribe to continue exploring practical mental health insights that honor the messy, non-linear journey of becoming your best self. EP 17 | You Don't Need To Earn Your Right to Rest: Your Rest is No Longer Up for Debate!

Rest. It seems so simple, yet for many of us, it's a radical concept we're still learning to embrace. Many of us claim to be good at reacting but we’ve just mastered the art of fake resting: binge-watching Netflix shows while our minds race or collapsing from exhaustion isn't rest—it's often just dissociation from burnout. Rest isn't a reward—it's a requirement for human existence. You deserve rest simply because you exist, not because you've checked everything off your to-do list. Points highlighted in this episode:  • The differences between true rest and just dissociating from burnout • True rest means mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical replenishment—not just physical inactivity • How cultural programming, especially for marginalized groups, teaches us that rest must be earned through productivity • Why many of us learned that rest comes only after all work is done, creating adults who struggle to rest without guilt • Learning to rest requires patience, self-compassion, and intentional practice. We wrap the episode by reminding you that as you embark on your own rest journey, remember to approach yourself with compassion. Unlearning lifelong habits takes time and practice. EP 16 | Opt Out of Always Being The Go To Person

Are you ready to shed the superhero cape that's been weighing you down? I know I am.  The pressure to be everything to everyone is  just absolutely relentless. What if freedom lies in simply passing these burdens to someone else? Not out of laziness, but as a deliberate act of self-preservation and growth. The truth is, you have the permission to grow without suffering. While it sounds revolutionary, it isn't. It is time to create mental space, reduce stress, and prioritize your joy without the pressure of being everything to everyone. What We Explore In This Episode:  • Removing yourself from one-sided relationships where you're expected to be a "ride or die" without receiving equal support • Declining to participate in friendships that drain rather than energize you • Leaving employment situations where your voice and perspective aren't valued • Refusing to remain financially disempowered or ignorant because society expects it • Understanding that growth doesn't require suffering—you can develop through positive experiences • Recognizing the freedom that comes from setting down the "superwoman/superman cape" If you enjoyed this episode, please let us know. EP 14 | Goal Setting For Better Results: How to Fool Proof Achieving Your Goals

Ever feel like your New Year's resolutions are abandoned by March? Well in this episode, I'm sharing a revolutionary approach to personal growth that has transformed my relationship with resolutions: theme-based goal setting. Rather than creating rigid lists of specific achievements, I've chosen two guiding themes for 2025 that shape my decisions without the crushing pressure of metrics. My first theme is boldness. After years of hiding, 2025 is when I show up as my authentic self. My second theme is rest—the perfect counterbalance to boldness.  I'm challenging myself to discover what genuine relaxation feels like. I'm putting down the superwoman cape! The beauty of theme-based resolutions is that they're flexible, personalized, and reduce the stress that comes with traditional goal-setting. You define what your themes mean and how they'll show up across different areas of your life. What themes would transform your 2025? Share your thoughts in the comments and let's reimagine how we approach personal growth together!
