Taiwan’s satellite program actually started nearly 30 years ago. What has changed along the way, and why insist on “Made in Taiwan” satellites? In this episode, we explore these questions. NYCU has also played a key role. Professor Wu Jong-Shinn, known as “Rocket Uncle,” is the current director of the Taiwan Space Agency and a main driver of FORMOSAT-8. His love for rockets even inspired a character in a Mayday music video! Professor Shih Tian-Yuan from Civil Engineering has long worked on satellite image calibration and contributed to FORMOSAT-8.
