Poe Evermore

I’ve been looking forward to this episode since I started listening last October. This is my favorite Poe story and you guys knocked it out of the park. Thank you so much for this!

They have some great talent involved—Juan Carlo Herrera is quite good at being entirely different people, invisibly so. Like Gary Oldman—you remember the character and forget who played him. Harlan Guthrie is…unearthly. I am genuinely afraid of most of the things he does, but he can do things with his voice that no one should be able to do. I’m intrigued by the premise of Poe getting his stories from real-life experiences, but also dreading how this will end because…it did not end well. But I am also annoyed and distracted by people mispronouncing things and now misspelling them. “Fathers” is the plural. “Father’s” is possessive. I’d give one milligram more respect if they had misspelled “sons,” too, but they lack the courage of their convictions. I understand dyslexia. I don’t understand not having a proofreader. If they love writing so much, then please learn from it. The mispronunciations, again, would be easy to correct with just a little care. I usually binge podcasts, but this one I have to ration. It makes me angry to hear something so close to greatness fail on things that should be easy to fix, especially when they are so distracting. It’s great that there are still people enthusiastic about classic writers and wanting to introduce them to new generations, but it also hurts that mistakes then proliferate.
