S3E4: Seeking Out the Learning and Laughter - with Tina Larsson

This week on the Show Me the Way Podcast, I’m talking with Tina Larsson, whom I met through PodMatch—another connection that led to a fabulous guest and a really fun conversation! While this podcast often focuses on personal adversity and life’s challenges, this episode takes a little bit of a different path and dives into business, recognizing a need, and having the courage to create your own path. Tina and her husband took their knowledge and years of experience and turned it into a successful co-op and condo consulting and servicing company after recognizing that HOAs often need help navigating the complexities of their communities. What I loved most is that Tina and her husband essentially figured out their partnership along the way—and even navigated the challenges of the financial crisis while continuing to build their business. Tina shares some great insight on challenging ourselves, asking for help, continuing to learn and grow, and never being afraid to try something new. And, just to prove she practices what she preaches, Tina even checked stand-up comedy off her bucket list! This conversation is filled with laughs, perspective, business lessons, and plenty of great advice. I know you’re going to enjoy getting to know Tina and hearing her story! Let’s show each other the way. ❤️ And be sure to visit the company website for more company and contact information - https://www.thefolsongroup.com/

S3E3: Don't Hurry, Be Happy - with Tara Kohler

This week on the Show Me the Way Podcast, I had the absolute pleasure and honor of welcoming one of my dear friends and Bible Study Sisters, Tara Kohler, to the show. I’ve only known Tara for a few years, but she has made such a meaningful impact on my life. She has been incredibly supportive of this podcast, and I always knew she would be an amazing guest. But I also knew her story needed to be shared when she felt called and ready to share it. After some initial resistance and reluctance, Tara began listening to other episodes and realized that maybe it was finally time to tell her story. And how grateful I am that she did! Tara vulnerably opens up about loss, life changes, and more than one season of depression. She shares honestly about the difficult times she experienced emotionally, while also sharing how God continued to work through her—even in the darkest moments. I often refer to Tara as a shepherd among us. She has a beautiful way of guiding, encouraging, and showing others the way through her own faith and her willingness to serve. One of the themes Tara speaks about throughout our conversation is peace. She and her husband have even created a space in their home where she can truly experience that sense of peace and feel the flow of it around her. Because Tara understands what it feels like to struggle and search for peace, she has a deep desire to create spaces where others can find it too. Through a supportive family, wonderful friends, community, prayer, and a whole lot of trust in God, Tara was able to walk through her most recent difficult season and come out on the other side with such incredible perspective and positivity. She reminds us of the importance of being intentional—about what we pay attention to, the spaces we create, the things we do, and especially the people we surround ourselves with. Tara’s story is vulnerable, honest, hopeful, and beautiful. I love learning from her in my own life, and I know you will too. Sometimes showing the way doesn’t mean having all the answers. Sometimes it simply means walking through the hard places, finding your way back to peace, and then turning around to help someone else find theirs. Let’s show each other the way.

S3E2: See a Need, Fill a Need - with Makayla Green

Today’s guest is Makayla Green, another beautiful soul I had the pleasure of being introduced to through one of my best referral partners, Christine Spradlin. Christine and Makayla know each other through business and networking, as Makayla and her husband own a cleaning service. When Christine heard Makyala sharing more openly about some of the challenges she has faced in life, she mentioned the podcast—and I’m so glad she did! Makayla is a mom, a successful businesswoman, and someone who truly believes that even after difficult seasons, you can find success, keep moving forward, and create something meaningful. Her positive mindset is infectious. Throughout our conversation, Makayla shares the importance of staying positive, continuing to grow and learn, and never giving up. She encourages taking risks and continuing to try new things—even when you’ve failed before. Sometimes the greatest growth comes from simply being willing to try again. We also talk about something that can be both incredibly rewarding and challenging: working with your spouse. Makayla shares the importance of communication, compatibility, and genuinely enjoying the person you’re building a business with. Because while loving your spouse is important, liking them matters too! When you’re partners in life and in business, being able to communicate, work together, and have a little fun along the way can make all the difference. Makayla also opens up about finding balance when you’re someone who naturally wants to serve others and make everyone happy. She shares how she has learned to balance that desire to please with taking care of her own mental and emotional well-being—and how she is passing those lessons along to her children. This conversation was filled with encouragement, wisdom, laughter, and so many reminders that our challenges don’t have to define us. We can learn, grow, take chances, try again, and continue showing our children what it looks like to keep moving forward. Makayla truly was a light, and I loved getting to know her and hear her story. I think you’ll enjoy this conversation as much as I did! S2E52: Life Shifts, but So Can We - with Mariah Hedquist

This week, I welcomed Mariah Hedquist to the Show Me the Way podcast! Mariah was referred to me through a mutual connection, Lisa Kapulian, and what a wonderful guest she was to have on the show. Mariah has spent many years in the beauty industry, speaking publicly and educating others about business. But in this episode, she shared more of her personal story and how her perspective on life began to shift after becoming a mom. Her beautiful daughter, Isla—who you may hear throughout the episode—is now two years old, and Mariah reflects on just how different life looks with her in it. Once a big planner, high achiever, and someone determined to continue shining as a businesswoman, Mariah has come to understand and appreciate the importance of her role as a mom and manager of her home. She reminds us how important it is to savor the moments and recognize that sometimes the things we once considered our biggest priorities can begin to look very different as life changes. Today, Mariah truly enjoys the path she is on and embraces all that comes with it—including being a part-time hairstylist and full-time mom. Mariah also shares about her faith-filled journey and how her mindset shifted once she truly recognized that God is always with her and her family. Developing a deeper relationship with Him has helped her find peace, perspective, and joy in the season she is living in. I love how Mariah’s story reminds us that sometimes the way forward isn’t exactly what we planned. There will be ups and downs and unexpected changes, but when we learn to embrace what works best for ourselves and our families, we can find joy in so many of the moments along the way. Mariah’s perspective is thoughtful, intuitive, and such a beautiful example of what I hope to share through this podcast. Her story is a reminder that there is no one right path—and sometimes the most meaningful journey is the one we never planned.

S2E51: Find Your People, But Lean on Me Too - with Stacey Lanham

I strongly believe in God winks—the little reminders that God places people in our lives for a reason. Today’s guest, Stacey Lanham, is such a beautiful example of that. Stacey is a dear friend of another recent guest, Kristen Ulin, and I absolutely love when guests enjoy their time on the show enough to refer their friends and family. It means so much! Stacey also lives right here in my community, and as we discovered, we have several friends in common. Stacey was born and raised in Colorado, and moving to Michigan was difficult. She initially felt lonely, uncertain and disconnected from the community she had always known. But what felt like a difficult transition turned out to be a blessing as she met some incredibly special people who would become lifelong friends. Then came the pandemic, bringing another season of isolation—but also an opportunity for Stacey and her friends to grow even closer as they leaned on one another. Just as Stacey was feeling settled and grateful for the community she had found, she faced another life-changing challenge: a breast cancer diagnosis. Her journey included surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, but once again, community showed up. Her friends stood beside her, supported her and reminded her just how valuable and important true friendship can be. Stacey also leaned deeply into her faith, trusting God through one of the most difficult seasons of her life. Today, Stacey continues to advocate for others facing similar journeys. Through her company, she educates, raises awareness and supports philanthropic efforts to help others. Stacey is truly a beautiful soul, and I’m so grateful she was willing to share her story. This conversation is a powerful reminder that even in the hardest seasons, we are never truly alone—and sometimes the people God places in our lives are exactly who we need. Maybe this episode will be your own little God wink. ❤️
