  1. Conversation with Rebecca Evans / Pell Ensemble

Conversation with Rebecca Evans / Pell Ensemble

One of the artists that Timo talked to at Keha Festival is Rebecca Evans from Pell Ensemble. They presented their piece Hinterlands, a one-to-one mixed reality headset experience on the speculative futures of human evolution. A dancer and a participant co-create a journey, where virtual layers move over the real world, and connections with yourself,  the other and the environment can change. Inspired by microorganisms called extremophiles that live on the edge of habitability, in some of earth’s most inhospitable environments, Hinterlands is a mixed reality headset experience on the speculative futures of human evolution. Movement, spatial sound and mixed reality create a space that unfolds differently for you and the dancers. Through an invitation to move, you will explore our entanglement with the natural and digital world and possibilities for surviving, evolving and becoming. This podcast is a part of One-to-One Art project, which has been awarded Creative Europe funding for the period 1 November 2023 – 30 April 2026. Project coordinator is ILME (Oulu, Finland) and partners in the project are the Gato Escaldado theatre group from Lisbon, Portugal, and the artist residency House of Klajn ran by House Collective from Klanjec, Croatia. Conversation with Signe Levä

In this episode we are taking you a bit back, to the Keha festival 2025 - where Timo talked to Signe Levä, an performing artist and dancer from Finland.  They talked about her work HANDS, an intimate dance of hands, a concert of touch and friction, a wind from one skin to another. A salute, farewell, love and appreciation for her further disabling hands and fingers. It is a very intimate, touching performance which Signe describes: "In this piece I stimulate the sensorial experiences I practise, to someone else, to another body, as my hands can be on both sides of the person at the same time, providing sensory stimulation; airflow, sound, warmth. Visually arriving at one’s gaze from both sides of the field of vision. The travelling of stimming hands stimulates the senses, as the senses catch the sounds, air flowing, warmth, coming from different directions, at different intensities, drawing a map of where they are." Conversation with Aapo Nikkanen

Aapo Nikkanen is one of the artists from the One-To-One program in 2025. and in this episode he is talking to Jerko about his work and experience. Aapo is an artist, researcher, and hypnotherapist. His current work focuses on hypnotic performances and photography. In 2024, he earned a hypnotherapist’s degree, and he runs a hypnotherapy cabinet in Paris. Alongside his artistic practice, Nikkanen researches and periodically writes about new technologies. He teaches and gives workshops in art and design universities across Europe, and occassionally does design commissions and collaborations. In Joy Machines, the project that he has presented in One-To-One project, the audience is hypnotised and comes into contact with a machine that can produce intense sensory experiences of happiness. The work reflects on our increasingly complex – and not necessarily healthy – relationship with new technologies.
