Merry Shitmas and a Crappy New Year - Episode 10

Send us a text In this deeply personal and vulnerable episode, I take you behind the scenes of what the last few months have really been like. It’s been a while since I recorded, and honestly, there’s been a lot of internal struggle, especially when it comes to balancing motherhood, marriage, and my mental health. From a lonely birthday spent quarantined on a cruise to the festive period struggles that followed, I’m sharing the truth about what this Christmas season looked like for me—not the curated holiday photos or perfectly staged family moments, but the reality of it all. During this episode, I talk openly about the emotional toll of mum guilt and the pressure to be a "perfect" mum during the holiday season, when everyone around you seems to have it all together. I admit how much I struggled mentally and physically throughout the Christmas season, feeling disconnected and overwhelmed by the expectations of what “Christmas should be” versus the reality of what it was for us. From missing out on family Christmas traditions to feeling like I wasn’t doing enough for my toddler, Taryn, I explore how these feelings of guilt and inadequacy affected me during what is supposed to be the happiest time of the year. As a toddler mum, I reflect on the guilt of not creating those magical memories for Taryn that so many parents seem to be capturing. But at the same time, I’ve learned to embrace those quiet, unfiltered moments that make me feel most present with my son—even if they don’t make it to Instagram. I share why my favourite part of Christmas wasn’t the staged photos or the perfect “family traditions,” but the small, intimate moments of peace spent together, with no need to prove anything to anyone. I also dive into the complexities of being a mum in business, and how the pressure to keep up appearances on social media often feels at odds with the messiness of real life. How much of myself is too much to share? How do I balance motherhood, marriage, and my own identity without feeling like I’m losing myself? These are the questions I’m grappling with as I enter 2025, trying to find my footing in a world that expects constant perfection. This episode is about embracing the raw and real aspects of motherhood and marriage—the moments that often go unspoken but are so important. If you’ve ever felt the weight of mental health struggles, mum guilt, or the pressure of being a perfect parent, I hope this episode resonates with you. It’s a reminder that you’re not alone, and it’s okay to not have it all figured out. If you're feeling lonely, disconnected, or like you're just not meeting expectations, I see you, and I’m here to share my story so you know that you're not alone. So, join me as I reflect on the challenges of the past year, and the lessons learned in embracing the messiness of life as a mum, wife, and individual. Let’s talk about the struggles we don’t always post on Instagram—the real, unfiltered moments that make us h Enjoying the Podcast? Unlock exclusive insider access—be the first to know! Send us a text Ok...but he's two...and so damn cute!!! It's half-term, and whether you're hiding in a quiet corner or still rocking through the chaos, this episode is for you. Today, I’m spilling all the tea on how school holidays, toddler tantrums, and my severe lack of time for myself have flipped my life upside down—and how that’s changed my entire approach to beauty, skincare, and motherhood. In this brutally honest episode, I break down the realities of life with a two-year-old during half-term, from soft play overstimulation to surviving on Miss Rachel and Blippi. I’ll walk you through my personal journey of motherhood and mental chaos, all while juggling my guilt over not doing enough for my son and neglecting my own self-care. If you’re dealing with toddler tantrums, violent outbursts (yep, that’s happening), and all the mental battles of half-term while also missing your pre-kids self-care routine, tune in for some much-needed validation and realness. I promise, you are not alone—and it's okay to admit this journey is hard.  By the end of the episode, you'll know why it's okay to not have it all together, and how small acts of self-care—like even washing your face after five days—can help you come back stronger. So let’s dive into the reality of motherhood, beauty, and the balance we’re all trying to find. Grab a glass of wine (or a coffee, depending on your mood), and join me for some laughter, tears, and relatable moments.  Enjoying the Podcast? Unlock exclusive insider access—be the first to know! Episode 5 - Why I Hate My Job (But Still Love What I Do)

Send us a text In this deeply personal episode, I’m pulling back the curtain on something that’s been heavy on my heart lately—feeling like I’m never enough. As a makeup artist, aesthetic practitioner, and business owner in the beauty industry, the pressure to constantly perform, look perfect, and deliver flawless results is overwhelming. Add being a mum and a wife into the mix, and it feels like I’m juggling so much that sometimes, I just want to throw in the towel. Social media has been a double-edged sword for me. On one hand, it’s a crucial tool for my business, especially as a Microblading technician where you *need* to see the before-and-after transformations. But on the other hand, it’s a constant reminder of all the ways I feel like I’m falling short. Whether it’s makeup artists who seem to be making millions or influencers living glamorous lives, it’s hard not to compare and feel inadequate. Even on my personal Instagram, I’m bombarded with parenting advice and lifestyle pressures, leaving me wondering if I’m doing enough as a mum, wife, or businesswoman. In this episode, I share the truth behind my struggle with social media, the burnout I’ve faced, and why I almost decided to step away from everything. You’ll also hear about my brand pivot at Bellissimi and the real reason I’m shifting focus towards empowering women to find  their confidence—not through unattainable standards of beauty, but by embracing who they really are. If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly falling short—whether in your career, your appearance, or your personal life—this episode is for you. Let’s have an honest, heart-to-heart conversation about comparison, self-worth, and how we can redefine what success looks like for ourselves.  Tune in for a raw and real discussion about balancing life as a beauty professional, a mum, and most importantly, as a woman just trying to figure it all out. Episode 4 - The True Cost of a BBL: Is It Worth the Risk?

Send us a text Trigger warning: This episode discusses themes of alleged malpractice, death and unsafe cosmetic procedures, which some listeners may find distressing. In this episode, we dive into a deeply serious and sobering topic: the tragic death of a young woman following a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure. This incident sheds light on the wider dangers of the cosmetic surgery industry, particularly in the ongoing debate between medical and non-medical practitioners. We’ll unpack the alarming facts around the BBL, one of the most dangerous cosmetic procedures with a 1 in 3,000 mortality rate—making it one of the riskiest surgeries out there. We’ll also examine the lack of regulations in the UK beauty industry and what it means for the safety of patients seeking aesthetic procedures. I will also open up about my own experiences of aesthetics treatments and what plastic surgeries I have had.  Join me as we talk about the key differences between medical and non-medical practitioners in the world of aesthetics, why regulation is long overdue, and what you need to know to stay safe if you’re considering any cosmetic surgery. Finally, we’ll also look at ways the industry can protect clients better, and offer some practical tips on ensuring your safety when considering cosmetic enhancements. ***BBL involves transferring fat from other parts of the body to the buttocks, but it has one of the highest mortality rates in cosmetic surgery, largely due to the risk of fat embolism (where fat enters the bloodstream and blocks blood vessels). Many clinics in the UK offer BBL, but regulations and safety standards have become stricter due to rising concerns. Several professional bodies, such as the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), have warned against the procedure. In 2018, BAAPS even called for a moratorium on BBL surgeries due to safety concerns. However, it is still legally available at certain clinics, but they must adhere to strict guidelines, and patients are strongly advised to weigh the risks. If you're considering BBL surgery in the UK, it's essential to research accredited surgeons, understand the risks, and ensure you have a full consultation to discuss safety measures.*** - Though I state they are illegal, this was not 100% correct. Episode 2 - The Top Five Reasons Why You May Regret Getting Your Eyebrows Microbladed

Send us a text When I was planning on starting a podcast and going into the treatment side and services side of things, this topic was number one in my head because it's probably one of the most asked about services, or one of the most discussed in person or on social media.  There’s a lot of misinformation out there so I’m here to give you the lowdown on microblading. There's a lot of controversy about this treatment because quite a few people don't actually know what it is- companies, brands, and clinics/salons  like to market it a certain way and call it different things.  In this week’s episode we have a deep dive into all things related to microblading. We will be covering the following: What is eyebrow microblading? What is the difference between microblading (handheld method) and semi-permanent/SPMU makeup (also known as machine brows)What to look for in your microblading tech? How bad do they hurt, what is the pain level? What about numbing cream/lidocaine? Without boring you too much, there are a lot of requirements behind the scenes when it comes to being a SPMU artist. You require qualifications and insurance of course, but also a premises license. As a client, or someone interested in getting this aesthetics procedure, you have every right to know this about your aesthetician so never be afraid to ask. I understand this can be a big decision so please take your time in researching clinics and always ask questions! This will reduce a lot of anxiety for you and allow you to know fully, and consent to what it is you’re getting. I am very transparent due to my background in the legal field and my law degree.  There are different techniques for brow microblading such as hair strokes, powder and ombre also known as combination or “combo” brows. If you want to know more about the different effects then please drop me a DM on instagram and I'll be happy to help if you want more information on anything I’ve discussed! And as always, thank you for joining me on the sofa! I really enjoyed chatting with you!  Enjoying the Podcast? Unlock exclusive insider access—be the first to know!
