Part 2: Creating A Legacy Born Out Of Community with Sophia Vourdoukis!

In part two of my conversation with Sophia, we go even deeper — and we both show up with our whole selves. I open up about my own fear — the narrative I carried that I couldn't sustain my law practice — and how the stories we tell ourselves become the ceilings we never question. Sophia meets me there and reminds us that narrative holds you back. Full stop. From there she takes us into the story of Argonaut — the collective she co-owns — born from a simple, beautiful idea: telling stories through music. And how she never once contemplated becoming a director. It wasn't a plan. It was a yes. That's the thread running through everything Sophia shares — all you have to do is say yes. The path reveals itself after the decision, not before. She gets honest about worthiness — how our own sense of worth determines so much more than we realize, and how the ideas we hold about ourselves can become the very walls that limit us. Two friends working together, building out of community again, creating a theater group — Argonaut is proof that when you root something in relationship and trust, it grows into something that lasts. She shares that Argonaut will be performing May 22nd – May 24th at Twin Oaks Theatre, Freeport NY — mark your calendars. And then she asks the question I want every woman listening to sit with: What is the alternative to following your interest and expanding? No more excuses. The societal hurdles women face are real — and more rigid than what men encounter. Sophia names that truth without flinching. And still, she chooses expansion. Because she is paving her own path — even when people don't get it. Especially when people don't get it. Creating A Legacy Born Out Of Community with Sophia Vourdoukis!

This week's Phenomenal Everyday Woman is Sophia Vourdoukis.  What does it mean to build something that truly belongs to you — not just as a title, but as a way of being? In this episode, I sit down with Sophia, co-owner of, Argonaut Studios, a women-led, women-owned film and theater collective, and what unfolds is one of the most honest and layered conversations I've had on this show. Sophia doesn't just talk about what she built — she talks about how she became someone who could build it. Raised within a tight-knit, deeply rooted Greek immigrant community, Sophia carries the values of that upbringing like a blueprint — one that quietly shaped the way she would eventually create spaces defined by trust, loyalty, and collective belonging. She'll tell you that the culture she grew up in wasn't always easy, but it gave her something rare: a template for what real community feels like. And she's spent her entire career recreating that feeling for others. She began as a photographer — a gig-based, project-to-project world — and what she'll tell you is that she was acting like an entrepreneur long before she ever claimed the title. Because that's how it works sometimes. You're already doing the thing. You're already leading, building, creating — and it's not until you make a conscious decision to step into that identity that everything shifts. The doors don't open before the decision. The decision opens the doors. But here's the part of this conversation that stopped me in my tracks: Sophia talks about creativity not as a gift or a talent — but as a basic human need. Something we all carry and something we all deserve to express. And she talks about confidence the way I wish someone had talked to me years ago. About how someone believed in her ability to own a business before she fully believed in herself — and how that borrowed confidence became the bridge she walked across to get to her own. We've been taught to feel almost apologetic about needing that. Like needing encouragement is a weakness. Like leaning on someone else's belief in you is something to outgrow as fast as possible. But Sophia and I are here to disrupt that narrative entirely. We are made for each other's confidence. We are designed to hold mirrors up for one another — to see in each other what we cannot yet see in ourselves. Sophia now lives that truth as a mentor and role model, understanding that the greatest gift we can give is the same one that was given to her: the willingness to say I see you, even when you can't. This one is for every woman who is already doing the work but hasn't claimed the title. For every woman waiting on her own permission slip. For every woman who needed someone to believe first — and for the women bold enough to be that someone for another. Come listen. You'll be glad you did. I'm Back!

I'm back. Not because I figured everything out. Not because I have all the answers. But because I realized I was doing the thing I help other women stop doing — waiting for permission that's never coming. This episode is different. The Phenomenal Everyday Woman being interviewed? It's me. We recorded this on December 10th, right before I took what I thought would be a short break. Instead, it became months of me sitting with the same questions I help others navigate: What does it mean to build a life that looks right but feels wrong? How do you trust your own experience when you've been told you're wrong? Why do we move through life on eggshells, checking boxes but not feeling good about what we've created? In this conversation, I talk about: Why I started this podcast and why I'm coming backWhat it means to truly hold space for vulnerabilityHow I've learned that desire alone is enough — you don't need to justify wanting something differentThe difference between being worthy on paper and actually feeling worthyThis is me being honest about where I am: still building, still learning, still choosing myself even when it's uncomfortable. If you've been waiting for a sign that it's okay to want more, to start over, to admit you built the wrong life — this is it. Welcome back. I missed you too.
