God My Father - Podcast EP 26

Weekly empowerments with Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Good morning family*Charles Spurgeon*, the famous English Baptist preacher said, “There are no crown-bearers in heaven that were not cross-bearers here below. ” * There is a price to pay for choosing to live a godly life - to follow Jesus, will cost you, to live by the precepts of the Word of God will cost you. * But one day you will receive the reward of eternal life and to me, there is no greater reward than this. Our series is themed “*God my Father*” and we are reflecting on Psalm 139 - this passage of scripture explains the unconditional love that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us. Today we conclude the study of this beautiful Psalm and I pray that this passage of scripture has helped you to understand how precious you are to our Heavenly Father. *Psalm 139:24 AMP*24 And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.*Some thoughts on our verse:*1.   The term "wicked" in the Bible is used to describe individuals, actions, or thoughts that are morally wrong, evil, or in opposition to God's will.2.   In this verse David asks God to see if there is any wickedness in him that will cause pain or sorrow.3.   David understood that _when we conduct our lives in opposition to God’s will then we will suffer pain and sorrow_.4.   The plea of this verse is that David longs to have a conscience that is free from wickedness so that he can follow the everlasting way or the way to everlasting life.5.   As students of the Word of God, we understand that the everlasting way is not found by doing good works in our own strength.6.   But instead, it is found when we choose to live like the apostle Paul in *2 Timothy 4:7-8,* “7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.”7.   When we put Jesus Christ first in our lives, when we fight the good fight of faith and when we keep the faith through all the seasons of life, we will finish our race well. Final thoughts before we pray - we were not designed to be wicked people who live in opposition to God’s will. *God loves us so much that He longs for us to walk the way that leads to everlasting life* - this pathway will have storms and obstacles but God will always give us His ability to be victorious because He is our loving Heavenly Father #dailyvlog #dailyshorts #foryou #hope #wisdom #truenorth #church

God My Father - Podcast EP 25

Weekly empowerments with Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Weekly Empowerment by Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Good morning family*Billy Graham*, the great American evangelist penned these words, “When we allow worries to dominate us, we’re actually saying that God can’t be trusted to take care of us. But He can be trusted!”. * We live in a world that provides ongoing opportunities for us to be overwhelmed and consumed with worry and anxiety. * And yet God sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us so that we could experience peace that passes human understanding. * Family we are the only ones that can choose to entrust our anxious thoughts to our Heavenly Father so that we can know His peace. Our series is themed “*God my Father”* and we are reflecting on Psalm 139 - this passage of scripture explains the unconditional love that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us. *Psalm 139:23 AMP*Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart; Test me and know my anxious thoughts;*Some thoughts on our verse:*1.   I want to pause on the statement, “know my anxious thoughts”.2.   The first thought that comes to me is that this term highlights David’s choice to be vulnerable with his Heavenly Father, when he acknowledges that he has anxious thoughts.3.   The word anxious speaks of, “being full of mental distress or uneasiness because of fear of danger or misfortune; greatly worried; apprehensive”.4.   The reality of life is that at some point we have all had moments of mental distress, worry or apprehension.5.   There is no shame in acknowledging that at times we have had anxious thoughts.6.   What is most important however is what do we do when those anxious thoughts come to overwhelm us and seek to paralyze us.7.   Settle your heart - our Father knows every emotion that we are capable of feeling.8.   God has made provision for worry with His Word in Philippians 4:6 - 7, “6Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. 7And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. Final thoughts before we pray - there is no shame in having a moment when our thoughts want to overwhelm us, but when that happens, we can choose to give those thoughts to our Heavenly Father, and thank Him that He is making a way through the storm. Why?Because He is our Father and He loves us #dailyvlog #dailyshorts #foryou #hope #wisdom #truenorth #church

God My Father - Podcast EP 24

Weekly empowerments with Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Weekly Empowerment by Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Good morning family*Charles Spurgeon* penned these words in one of his devotions, “Depend upon it, God often sends us trials that our graces may be discovered, and that we may be certified of their existence… Trials make the promise sweet, Trials give new life to prayer; Trials bring me to his feet, Lay me low, and keep me there.”* We all long for the growth and development that comes after the trial has passed; but not many of us enjoy the pain of going through the test and yet it is only there that we discover our true capability* Do not despise your trial, lean on God and He will see you through to the other side. Our series is themed “*God my Father*” and we are reflecting on Psalm 139 - this passage of scripture explains the unconditional love that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us. *Psalm 139:23 AMP*Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart; *Test me* and know my anxious thoughts;*Some thoughts on this verse:*1.   The word test speaks of a trial or an examination. Everyone is acquainted with exams because we have all had to write them at some point in our lives. They are part of the process of us attaining a qualification and we willingly accept that this as a necessary part of progress.2.   In this verse why does David willingly ask God to test him?3.   Could it be that David’s reference is that the tests from God always culminate in promotion.4.   In 1 Samuel 17:36, David declares that he will overcome the giant Goliath because he passed the tests of killing the lion and killing the bear. David’s context was that the test was a necessary step for the next level of growth/increase and promotion.5.   As we consider ourselves and the times of trial and test that we have endured - how do we look at the times when God allows us to be tested.  6.   Are we like David, who understood that new skills and the development of character can only happen when we go through the trials of life.7.   Or do we blame God for the season of testing and use it as an opportunity to run away from the One who loves us the most. Maybe we step into the place of bemoaning the fact that we are always the victim - I don’t know but you know how you how you are responding. Today, are you in the middle of a trial - be of good courage, you are not alone. We can change our perspective on how we view our time of God’s testing and focus of this truth; Our Heavenly Father wants us to understand the capabilities and capacity that He has blessed us with. It is true *God’s tests are always for the purpose of our growth and His promotion* because He loves us #dailyvlog #dailyshorts #foryou #hope #wisdom #truenorth #church

God My Father - Podcast EP 23

Weekly empowerments with Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Weekly Empowerment by Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Good morning family*CS Lewis* penned this profound statement, “Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of… You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”* When we give God the freedom to change in us what needs changing we will marvel at what He can and will do through our lives. Our series is themed “*God my Father*” and we are reflecting on Psalm 139 - this passage of scripture explains the unconditional love that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us. *Psalm 139:23 AMP*23¶Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart; Test me and know my anxious thoughts;*Key thoughts on this verse:*1.   We arrive at this most stunning verse in Psalm 139 after David has verbalised his hate of sin, knowing that he himself has committed such terrible sins.2.   And yet, he now declares, “Search me thoroughly, O God,” what is he saying?3.   The word search in the Hebrew is chaqar which means to investigate, to examine or to search out. However, in this instance, the word search suggests an invitation to merge his heart with God.4.   David is inviting God into his heart to search and clean out anything that may be hidden so that his heart is pure.5.   Only then would David’s heart be moved by the things that move God’s heart.6.   As we pause on this verse, can we be honest about the conversations that we have with God our Father.7.   Are we prepared to quiet our soul and allow the Holy Spirit to go through every chamber in our heart to reveal that which does not please God.8.   Nobody, including me wants to hear any negative truths about ourselves, but my question is this; how will we change and grow if we never know the areas of our personal weakness. Before I pray - can we remember that God sees the version of us that He has destined for us to become. *God will not change us against our will*; He longs to work with us on our journey of becoming and it starts when we allow Him to search our hearts #dailyvlog #dailyshorts #foryou #hope #wisdom #truenorth #church

God My Father - Podcast EP 22

Weekly empowerments with Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Weekly Empowerment by Pastor Michelle Jean-Louis. Good morning family*CS Lewis* penned this deeply challenging statement, “It does not matter how small the sins are provided that their cumulative effect is to edge the man away from the Light and out into the Nothing. Murder is no better than cards if cards can do the trick. Indeed, the safest road to Hell is the gradual one - the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.”* We all make mistakes in life or in other words, we all sin - and when we do, may we always cry out for mercy and grace to our loving Heavenly Father. * God our Father longs to see all of us in Heaven one day. Our series is themed “*God my Father*” and we are reflecting on Psalm 139 - this passage of scripture explains the unconditional love that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us. *Psalm 139:22 AMP*22I hate them with perfect and utmost hatred; They have become my enemies.*Some thoughts on our verse:*1.   This verse continues David’s thoughts on those people who have been disloyal to God and have risen up against Him.2.   While the previous verse confirmed David’s inability to befriend those who dishonoured God, now he clearly articulates his loathing and disgust at their sin.3.   Let us bear in mind that this beautiful Psalm has been penned by David, a man who committed so many sins in his life.4.   It is in the light of this context, that two thoughts come to mind as I reflect on this verse.5.   *Thought 1*: How does God look at me when I am the sinner, I am the one who dishonoured God and His Word.6.   *Romans 5:8* provides much comfort to me, “But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”7.   *Thought 2*: Does Romans 5:8 mean that I can keep on sinning?8.   And the answer is a resounding no. Jesus came to set us free from a life of sin and when we truly meet Him, we will come to hate sin. We won’t want to repeat the mistakes that we once made. Today, before we pray, is there something in your life that is edging you further and further away from the light of Jesus Christ - you are the only one who knows the condition of your heart. Why not hand the small issue/big issue over to Jesus - no matter what the mistake is, I assure you that it is not greater than the love that God has for you #dailyvlog #dailyshorts #foryou #hope #wisdom #truenorth #church
