How to Regulate Your Nervous System When You're Overwhelmed

What do you do when life falls apart? Whether you're navigating grief, burnout, a career change, or an unexpected life transition, learning how to regulate your nervous system can help you find your footing again. Three days before my 48th birthday, I unexpectedly lost my teaching job and the community and life I'd built around it. What followed was months of grief, uncertainty, and deep transformation. In this episode, I'm sharing four simple practices that helped me navigate one of the most difficult seasons of my life. Drawing on over a decade of experience as a clairvoyant healer and meditation teacher, I'll share how grounding, journaling, shifting negative thought patterns, and allowing yourself to feel your emotions can help you move through overwhelm and reconnect with your inner wisdom. In this episode, we explore: Grounding your energy to interrupt rumination and return to the present moment Journaling to process grief, release overwhelm, and connect with your inner wisdom Rewriting negative thought patterns and choosing a more empowering story Why you have to feel it to heal it—and how to make space for difficult emotions Finding possibility, creativity, and purpose after unexpected loss Sometimes what feels like everything falling apart is also an invitation to discover who you are beyond the roles you've played and the life you've known. Fired at 48: How to Reinvent Yourself, Trust Your Intuition & Begin Again

Three days before my 48th birthday, I was fired from my job as a Waldorf kindergarten teacher. And while losing my job brought up all kinds of fears about security, belonging, worthiness, and what would come next, it also opened the door to something I've experienced several times before: reinvention. This wasn't my first rodeo. In fact, this is the fourth time in my adult life that I've had to rebuild, pivot, and create an entirely new path forward. From leaving a secure public school teaching career to become a psychic reader, to building a business as a single mother, to losing my primary source of clients overnight and opening a home preschool, I've learned a few things about what happens when life pulls the rug out from under us. In this episode, I'm sharing what I've learned about navigating major life transitions, especially for highly sensitive, intuitive, creative women who have never quite fit into conventional systems. In this episode, we explore: Why regulating your nervous system is one of the most powerful things you can do after a major life disruption. How rejection can become protection and redirection. Why being fired, rejected, or excluded doesn't determine your worth. The challenges of being a sensitive, neurodivergent, intuitive woman inside traditional institutions. How our generation is questioning inherited beliefs about work, security, and success. Why some of us are here to be pioneers, creating paths that don't yet exist. How to reconnect with your intuition and trust yourself to begin again. I also share why one of the first things I did after losing my job was take my daughter camping in the mountains near Aspen, and how that time away helped me settle my nervous system and reconnect with what was possible. If you're in midlife and facing a career change, divorce, breakup, job loss, or a deep inner calling to do something different, this conversation is for you. You don't have to figure everything out today. You can slow down, listen to your heart, gather your resources, and begin creating a life that reflects who you actually are. The path may not exist yet. Maybe you're here to create it.
