    F.D.A. RECALLS

In the latest episode of the Urban Survival Club Podcast, host Lisa discusses the increasingly concerning issue of food and drug recalls, focusing particularly on salmonella. Lisa draws attention to the increase in recalls caused by salmonella contamination in everyday grocery items such as chicken, beef, eggs, salads and pork products. Noteworthy is the case of Boar's Head meat products which were recalled due to listeria contamination, an event underestimated by the mainstream news. Lisa explores the roots of this disturbing trend, attributing it to inadequate monitoring due to the government shutdown in 2018 and the COVID-19 outbreak when many inspectors were furloughed. She also touches upon policy flaws implemented during the Trump administration that allows producers to self-report safety compliance. Lisa urges listeners to stay vigilant and well-informed about food safety, reinforcing the message that knowledge is indeed power.
