An Artist's Way of Healing is a new podcast that explores the idea that art heals individuals in the most beautiful, vulnerable, and miraculous ways.  In fact, according to americanforthearts.org, at least 7 out of 10 Americans see the arts improving healing and healthcare experiences. As humans, we are constantly seeking for satisfaction in our daily lives and for new ways on how to cope with the many stressful situations that life brings our way. Whether you are facing a traumatic event, attempting to overcome an experience, trying to identify who you are as a person, or simply helping people with troublesome scenarios in their own lives, the arts could be a healing outlet and a way to help cope with these issues. In this podcast, we will explore healing through the arts including Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Martial Arts, Yoga Arts, Liberal Arts, Culinary Arts, and more!

Join me in welcoming the amazing Javier Muñoz (Actor most known for playing Usnavi in In the Heights on Broadway and Alexander Hamilton in Hamilton on Broadway), as we dive headfirst into how he started his journey on becoming an Activist and an Actor, what it means for him to be a part of a movement of making the world equitable and fair and how he is constantly striving to fight as an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ and HIV AIDS communities.  Listen in as Javier talks about his path of finding his calling as an Actor, how acting found him again after several attempts of giving it up, how he overcame financial instability in his early years, how he lived and relived the one place where he closed the big fat book that opened during the height of his battle of testing positive for HIV AIDS, and so much more.     How a Licensed Clinical Social Worker uses his experiences through the arts to treat his patients daily...

    Send us a text In this day and age, the majority of us work with therapists to iron out the many challenges that life presents to us in our everyday lives. Some of use therapy to provide clarity on personal struggles and others may use it for work struggles. There are so many other reasons as well. No matter the reason that you see a therapist, one thing that we can all agree on is that there may have been some aspect of that session that has provided clarity in our own lives.  Tune into this unique episode as we listen to Jason Wieder, Licensed Master of Social Work and Professional Actor, as he takes a deep dive into how he has managed to utilize both sides of his profession, to not only provide more givens to his character on stage on a psychological level, but to also to combine several creatives in his daily practice that will benefit his everyday clients. In this episode, Jason provides definitions that are normally used in the clinical therapy field, provides definitions so that everyday people can understand, and takes us on a deep dive journey to what is really going on psychologically in people's minds and why people react the way they do to specific circumstances.     How a Cancer Survivor continues to inspire others with her story and her Aerial and Variety Art...

If either of these questions are yes, you are definitely not alone in your struggle. Tune in as Variety Artist and Aerialist Annemarie Levakis takes our listeners on a journey from the moment she was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkins Lymphoma, the struggles it brought on during studying the arts in college, what gave her the motivation she needed to overcome her illness, and how support, staying positive and keeping busy were the biggest ways she was able to overcome her cancer diagnoses. Lastly, Annemarie talks about how she is now in the process of creating an aerial piece that celebrates her 10th year being in remission from cancer!     How a Mother and Father’s love for their late son inspired them to make a difference in their community...

Here to kick us off with the debut of Part 2 is Founder and President of The Waffles Foundation, Alfred Bahna. Having lost his son in 2019 from suicide, Alfred Bahna talks about how he and his wife have been dealing with the grief of losing their only son Matthew Bahna (a.k.a. Waffles) who was a well-known musician in their community. After losing his son, Alfred talks about how he wanted to do something to commemorate Matthew's name leading to the founding of his 501 (c) (3) not for profit. Alfred talks about his not for profit, what is means to him and his wife to have started it, and how it has changed lives for other people in his community upon its founding.
