    Creating a different culture of power (for women) with Beatriz Della Costa

    Brazilian entrepreneur Beatriz Della Costa has been living in the US for two years with her husband and son. Her businesses, however, are still mainly in Brazil, leading to Beatriz currently living very much between two cultures and countries.  We spoke to Beatriz about how she manages such an international life with her husband, how learning the US credit system helped her understand the American mindset, and what she’s learned about working in social issues in Latin America and the US.     Summer Vacation: London and Lima

    Summer is officially over! Maybe not according to the calendar or the weather, but it is to us because our summer holidays are behind us.     How a breakup fueled my career with Mariana Loebrich

    Mariana Loebrich moved from Peru to the US while she was in college and never looked back. Slowly but surely she built a life for herself, and over twenty years in, she has no plans of leaving New York any time soon. Mariana shares how hard it was for her to make friends when she first immigrated, how she stayed in relationships for too long because her family was so far away that her relationships became her family, and how she made the move from retail to corporate America without a college degree.     Five international moves & counting with Patricia Valdiviezo

    When Patricia Valdiviezo was 10 she moved with her family to California knowing very little English. It was a rough transition. When she was 16 her family moved back to Peru, while Patricia and her twin sister stayed to graduate from high school later that year. At 22, burned out, and tired of being far from her family, she returned to Peru with a college degree and not much of a plan, except maybe wanting to stay put for a while. 8 years later, she was off again. This time to Berlin and then London, but she wasn’t alone. Her husband went with her. Now she’s 10 years into living in Peru again, but she knows better than to say this is it. We talked to Patricia about how immigrating shaped her, what were the hardest parts about it, and which countries were easier than others. Oh, and did we mention she’s our sister? Enjoy!
