In this episode of Terrorific, host Brandon O. swaps horror movies for supernatural roleplay as he teams up with the rest of the Creators Collective on a special spooky season collaboration.  Tonight, we come to you from an abandoned radio station for a two-part Halloween series to broadcast some of the scariest stories, urban legends and real events live on air. In this episode of Terrorific, host Brandon O. steams and presses his way through the 1995 Stephen King horror film featuring a bloodthirsty laundry machine, The Mangler. Adapted from Stephen King’s 1972 short story of the same name, The Mangler follows small-town cop John Hunton as he investigates a series of gruesome incidents centered around a, seemingly demonic, industrial speed iron and folding machine. Listen along as Brandon humorously recaps the film’s plot and analyzes its themes, including the illusion of control and the inheritance of family burdens and trauma. Daddy issues much? Is The Mangler  Worth Watching? | The Mangler is a Stephen King Night Shift adaptation that leans into occult horror, demonic possession, and dark themes of human sacrifice, generational trauma, and corrupt small-town power structures — all revolving around a killer industrial laundry machine. Despite being a collaboration between three horror legends — Stephen King, Tobe Hooper, and Robert Englund — the film’s silliness leads to misfires more times than not, earning only a one-star rating from Brandon (but a 2.7 average on Letterboxd). However, the use of gory practical effects should serve as a high point for horror fans.
