Capture and Connect - For Photographers

Janice Sullivan

🎙️ Welcome to Capture & Connect I'm Janice Sullivan, a fine art photographer and photography business coach. I've built a business with my photography, but somewhere along the way I discovered something else I truly love — business itself. I've invested years learning from some of the best business minds, while also putting those lessons to work in my own photography business. Now I'm building a second business around helping photographers do something I believe is absolutely possible: turn the work they love into a business that makes money. And I'm taking you behind the scenes as I do it. Capture & Connect is where I share the RAW side of being a photographer entrepreneur — what I'm trying, what's working, what isn't, the mistakes, the wins, and the business decisions I'm making along the way. Right now, that includes my own 90-day experiment to find my clients: the photographers who need what I offer and are willing to invest in building their businesses. Because that's what I want for you, too. Your photography is part of who you are, but beautiful photographs alone don't build a business. You need to understand who you want to work with, how to connect with them, what they value, and how to build a business around the work you love. There are plenty of people telling photographers why they can't make money. I'm much more interested in helping you figure out how you can. If you're a landscape, nature, macro, or fine art photographer who wants to move beyond creating beautiful images and start building a business around your passion, follow Capture & Connect and come behind the scenes with me. What Happens to Your Photography Business When Life Stops Everything?

What happens to your photography business when life suddenly forces you to stop everything? In this Raw episode of Capture & Connect, I’m taking you behind the scenes of a very personal emergency that changed my priorities overnight when my husband nearly lost his life after being attacked by wasps. As a photography business owner, I couldn't work. I didn't care about social media. I wasn't creating content. My focus was my husband and my family. But parts of my business kept working. My email list and automated email sequence continued connecting with photographers even when I couldn't show up. And when I slowly returned, I realized something else: my paying clients and the community I've built around them were where I wanted to put my energy first. We’ll talk about: Why photographers need an email list instead of relying only on social mediaHow automated email sequences can keep working when you can'tWhy your existing clients deserve your attentionCold, warm, and hot audiences and where I'm focusing right nowHow I'm using AI to help streamline parts of my photography businessWhat this experience changed about the way I'm approaching my businessThis isn't a polished how-to episode. It's a real behind-the-scenes conversation about entrepreneurship, priorities, clients, and building a photography business that doesn't completely depend on you showing up every single day. If you're trying to turn your passion for photography into profit and build a business around the work you love, this one's for you. Want to build a photography business around the work you love?
