John 12: What Are You Willing to Pour Out?

What are you willing to pour out? And what if the very thing you’re trying to hold onto has to fall to the ground before it can multiply? In John 12, the road to the cross is getting shorter. Mary breaks open something costly and fills the room with the fragrance of worship. Lazarus—once dead and now sitting at the table with Jesus—has become such a powerful living testimony that the religious leaders want him dead too. Crowds gather. Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey as King. And in the middle of it all, He gives His followers a startling picture: “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it produces much fruit.” In this episode of Bedroom & Bible, April and John walk through John 12 and wrestle with what it means to follow Jesus when obedience costs us something. What does extravagant worship look like when others don’t understand it? Is your life pointing people toward Jesus the way Lazarus’s life did? What needs to fall to the ground so God can bring forth greater fruit? And will we still follow Jesus when the road leads toward surrender rather than comfort? This chapter reminds us that Jesus didn’t simply come to make our lives more comfortable—He came to give us life through His own death and to invite us into the beautiful mystery of surrender: the seed falls, the shell breaks, and new life emerges. So open your Bible to John 12 and join us. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to show us what we need to pour out, what we need to release, and what it truly means to follow Jesus all the way.

John 11: LAZARUS, COME FORTH! What If the Dead Thing Isn’t Finished?

What happens when Jesus stands in front of the thing you have already buried? In John 11, Lazarus has been dead for four days. The stone is in place, the mourners have gathered, and Martha knows Jesus could have changed the story—but now it seems too late. Then Jesus arrives. He doesn’t just speak about resurrection; He reveals Himself as the Resurrection. In this episode of Bedroom & Bible, April and John Foster walk through John 11 and wrestle with the places in our lives, families, marriages, churches, communities, and hearts that may appear dead, buried, or beyond hope. What if Jesus is still saying, “Take away the stone”? What if the thing you’ve buried can still hear His voice? April and John also introduce a four-day “Lazarus Fast,” remembering the four days Lazarus was in the tomb and setting apart intentional time to seek God, examine their hearts, pray corporately, repent, and believe Him for resurrection life. Together, they take communion and explore connections between John 11, Psalm 91, Jesus’ temptation in the wilderness, spiritual protection, surrender, and the authority of God’s Word. This isn’t about manipulating God into resurrecting what we want; it’s about surrendering enough to ask: Lord, what are You calling out of the tomb? What stone are You asking me to move? What grave clothes need to come off? And do I really believe that You are the Resurrection and the Life? Jesus stood outside a tomb everyone else believed was final and cried, “Lazarus, come forth!” It’s time to seek Him, pray, repent, and remember the power of the cross and resurrection. Maybe it’s time to stop calling dead what Jesus isn’t finished with yet. Grab your Bible, prepare your heart, take communion with us, and if the Holy Spirit is leading you, join us for the four-day Lazarus Fast as we seek the Father together. The stone is not the end of the story. The tomb is not the end of the story. Death does not get the final word. Jesus does.
