Pod 366: A Weird Movies Podcast is, as the title suggests, a podcast devoted to weird movies--from surrealist and cult film to the stranger side of exploitation--from the team at 366 Weird Movies (366weirdmovies.com). Each week we cover weird movie news and new releases, whether theatrical, streaming, or out on physical media. We also have a wide array of guests: past interviewees include Christiane Cegavaske, Damon Packard, Cory McAbee, Everything is Terrible's Commodore Gilgamesh and Ghoul Skool, Andrew Rakich, Rock!     Tom Lee Rutter ("Pocket Film of Superstitions") joins Greg and Giles to discuss the week's weirdest home video releases: "Arco" on VOD; "Boys Go to Jupiter" on Blu-ray; the transgressive punk Blu-ray collection "Your Life is on the Line!: A Joe Christ Anthology"; 1971's "Pink Narcissus" finally arrives on Blu-ray (while Giles temporarily disappears); existential noir "The Man Who Wasn't There" gets a 4K upgrade from Criterion; and "Tank Girl" and "Terror Firmer" also join Club 4K.     Director Florian Frerichs joins Greg and Giles this week to discuss his film "Dream Story" ["Traumnovelle"], based on the same 1926 source novel as Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" and now streaming in the USA. First, the hosts run through the week's new releases--A "Brotherhood of the Wolf" steelbook, Jesus horror "The Carpenter's Son" on DVD, and the early Katsuhito Ishii crime curiosity "Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl," on Blu-ray for the first time in North America. They also take a brief look at what intrigues them in this year's Slamdance lineup. Then Florian Frerichs joins to discuss what made him want to adapt this story that's already been adapted multiple times, working with Klaus Kinski's son Nikolai, Berlin sex shops, and where to grab a bite if you happen to find yourself in Germany's capital city. "Mag Mag"; surprise indie sci-fi hit "Iron Lung"; and "Obex" on VOD. Then it's bonus coverage of the New Beverly's February slate of "Europe and Hollywood's Finest Adult Films," an honorary mention of today's Canonically Weird movie, and a mention of some documentary called "Melania" that we recommend not seeing. Also, our longest Errata entry ever! ERRATA AND OMISSIONS: *The "exotic locale" Greg was at was bed, and the "good fight" he was carrying on was against the flu bug. *"Iron Lung" opened last week but should be still playing in most areas. *In case you misheard, the New Beverly will be showing "Flesh Gordon," not "Flash Gordon," on February 23. *And finally, legal disclaimer: Pete should have said that the director of "Melania," Brett Ratner, was "in the Epstein files," not "on the Epstein Island list." We are aware of no evidence that Ratner visited the infamous island and believe Ratner denies it. He is mentioned many times in the Epstein files and the files include multiple pictures of him. In 2017, Ratner was accused of rape, and of sexual harassment by an additional 6 women; he denied the allegations but Warner Brothers severed ties with him. Before "Melania," he had not directed a movie since 2014. 366 Weird Movies stresses that all allegations against Ratner remain unproven; the only crime he has confessed to is directing "Melania."
