Blessed Are the Peacemakers | The Life You Are After

Week 7 of The Life You’re After | Matthew 5:9-12 | Ephesians 2:13-17 | John 16:33 We finish the Beatitudes with peacemakers and the persecuted. Biblical peace, or shalom, is wholeness for everyone, and a peacemaker is someone who enters in. In a world where Caesar called himself the peacemaker and son of god, Jesus gave those titles to ordinary people. We look at why entering in brings opposition, the story of Eric Liddell, and how Jesus entered in first through the cross. Watch the full message on our YouTube channel. Blessed Are the Pure in Heart | The Life You Are After

This week we look at the sixth beatitude: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” Pure doesn’t mean perfect. It means unmixed: wholehearted devotion to Jesus with nothing hidden. Through Psalm 15 and Psalm 27:4, we explore the invitation to abide, dwell and gaze in God’s presence, then flip it with Revelation 3:20 and ask whether our lives are ready to host Him. Blessed Are the Merciful | The Life You’re After

Week 5 of The Life You’re After | Matthew 5:7 | Matthew 18:21-35 | Luke 6:36 In the fifth Beatitude, Jesus says, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.” Through the parable of the unforgiving servant, we see how withholding mercy imprisons us, and how God’s mercy toward us is meant to flow through us to others. Mercy isn’t a doormat and works alongside justice. Forgiveness is a decision made once and a direction chosen again and again, and struggling to forgive is not the same as refusing to. Blessed Are Those Who Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness | The Life You’re After | Tim Grandstaff

Week 4 of The Life You’re After | Matthew 5:6 | Matthew 4:17 | Ephesians 1:9-10 Guest speaker Tim Grandstaff from Genesis Church in Orlando takes us into the fourth Beatitude: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Being blessed means flourishing because our lives are oriented toward God, even when circumstances don’t look blessed. Jesus blesses those who hunger for righteousness, not those who have it all together, and invites us to become people through whom others glimpse heaven on earth. Blessed Are the Meek | The Life You’re After

Week 3 of The Life You’re After | Matthew 5:5 | Philippians 2:5-11 | Matthew 11:28-30 In the third Beatitude, Jesus says, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Meek doesn’t mean weak. It’s power under control, and meekness does: it serves and gives when no one is watching. We look at Jesus as the greatest example of meekness, the only time he describes himself, and this week’s challenge to do one unseen thing for one person every day. Blessed Are Those Who Mourn | The Life You’re After

Week 2 of The Life You’re After | Matthew 5:4 | Psalm 56:8 | James 1:2-4 In the second Beatitude, Jesus says, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Moaning goes around God; mourning goes to God. Whether it’s grief, loss, disappointment or our own sin, the invitation is to stop burying it and bring it to him. We look at how God keeps count of our tears, and how the comfort Jesus promises is the Holy Spirit coming alongside us. You can also watch the full message on our YouTube channel. Blessed Are the Poor in Spirit | The Life You’re After

Week 1 of The Life You’re After | Matthew 5:1-3 | Matthew 9:9-13 We begin a new verse-by-verse series through the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus doesn’t offer life tweaks, he offers transformation. We set the context for Matthew’s gospel, written by a tax collector Jesus called and changed, and look at why this is a livable message for today through the power of the Holy Spirit. Then we step into the first Beatitude: blessed are the poor in spirit. You can also watch the full message on our YouTube channel. How God Has Positioned You

Take Hold Church's 3rd Anniversary | Acts 17:16-34 Tonight we celebrated three years of Take Hold Church and looked at Paul's message to the philosophers of Athens in Acts 17. Paul finds himself in a city he never planned to be in, surrounded by people who are spiritual but far from God, and he tells them about the unknown God they've been searching for all along. The message: God positions each of us exactly where we are, not by coincidence, so we might seek Him and find Him. Whether you feel settled or completely displaced, geographically far from home or just far from God, we walk through how Paul addressed both indifference toward God and confusion about who He is, and how nearness, not distance, is what actually defines Him. We also touch on Colossians 1:17, Hebrews 1:3, Jeremiah 23:23-24, and Psalm 145:18 as more pictures of a God who holds everything together and stays close to anyone who calls on Him. If you've never lived in a place that surprised God, this one is for you. Watch us on YouTube and find us everywhere at linktr.ee/takeholdchurch Be Loved.
