    61. Event Travel

When considering travel for your events what are the TRAVEL factors you need to consider? In this overview episode about Sustainability with regard to Travel I break it down into 3 considerations: 1. Your professional travel, and the travel of your conference attendees are NOT the major problem that airlines and other pollutors want you to believe. 2. Look out for variations in the baseline sustainability in different locations. Watch for places like Texas that will push against your sustainability goals or San Francisco who will scrutinize you more. Don't be blindsided with lack of consideration 3. Remember that ITEMS are also traveling and you can make informed decisions based on minimizing their travel as well. 57. Communication - Negative vs Positive

A lesson from Positive Psychology - use positive framing to keep your communication concrete and improve the chances your audience remembers what you want them to know. We cover: Negation processing difficulty - the brains inclination to omit or not process negating words like "not" or "don't" and act on concrete concepts. e.g. Telling yourself "don't spill... don't spill... don't spill" while walking your full cocoa to the couch, your brain omits the modifying words and only processes "spill... spill...spill" into action. Negativity Bias - The negativity bias is a natural tendency to focus more on negative information than positive information. This bias is thought to have evolved to help us survive by making us more aware of potential threats. [source: https://traumaresearchuk.org/the-negativity-bias-understanding-and-overcoming-our-brains-tendency-to-focus-on-the-negative/] Emphasis on positive framing for comprehension and retension.
