    103. Preparing for 2027: Faith, Courage & Vision

    In this episode of Voice with Action, Deb, Jill, and Rebecca share highlights from Orphan Relief and Rescue’s annual US staff retreat, where they spent time seeking God’s direction and preparing for next year. Through the words “prepare,” “peace,” and “courageous,” each share what God has been placing on her heart as ORR looks toward 2027. With a bold vision to double the ministry’s impact and reach more vulnerable children and communities in West Africa, the team reflects on the importance of staying close to God, stepping out in faith, and trusting Him to provide the resources needed for the journey ahead. Write down the first things that come to mind. If they are condemning thoughts, they are not from the Lord. If they are beautiful words, they are from the Lord. This is how God feels about you. This is not a time that God will give you disciplinary words, that is not what God does with this question. Ignore the 2nd thoughts that are you disputing that you heard from the Lord. Ignore the 3rd thoughts that are the enemy telling you that you did not hear from God. Spend some time thanking God for what He has done for you, and sharing with the Lord what you love about Him. Is there anything that you feel is hindering you from living the life you know God has intended you to live? If so, what do you feel God wants you to do about it?What is my word for the year? With this you can ask the Lord for a scripture or a song or both.Come up with 3 personal Goals for this year that you feel like God is challenging you with.Is there unforgiveness or bitterness with anyone that needs to be resolved? If so, ask God to help you resolve it and set up a meeting to work it out.In what areas of your life has the enemy been consistently pursuing you?     101. When God Moves Beyond Our Expectations

    In this episode, Deb sits down with Terry and Sharon to reflect on their recent mission trip to West Africa and the powerful ways they saw God moving through pastors, villages, and local communities. Terry and Sharon share about leading a pastors’ conference for approximately 25–35 local pastors, covering topics such as speaking blessings, hearing from God, turning vision into practical action, and praying over land previously dedicated to voodoo practices. The pastors were eager to learn, participate, and put what they were hearing into practice. The team also visited a village for the first time, where hundreds gathered to hear the gospel. Together, community members renounced curses and declared their allegiance to Jesus. The openness they witnessed was remarkable and reminded the team that God is able to move in powerful ways beyond the methods and timelines we expect. The trip also included several meaningful firsts, including a medical mission and a fashion show celebrating girls in the sewing program. Throughout the conversation, Terry and Sharon emphasize the importance of prayer for ORR’s local staff, whose faithful work and relationships have helped prepare the way for the growing spiritual and community transformation taking place.     100. First 100 days: How ORR’s Work Began

    In this episode, Deb and Rebecca look back at the first 100 days of Orphan Relief and Rescue and the early experiences that helped shape the organization’s approach to protecting vulnerable children. Rebecca shares how ORR began with a small team, limited resources, and a willingness to follow God’s lead. From the earliest work in Liberia—supporting healthy orphanages and confronting abusive ones—to building relationships in communities vulnerable to child trafficking, the team quickly learned the importance of listening to local leaders and responding to the real needs of families. What began with providing school uniforms and supplies grew into a much more holistic approach. Food, shoes, education, family support, microfinance, Savings & Loan groups, and community-led solutions all became part of addressing the circumstances that leave children vulnerable to trafficking. Rebecca also reflects on some of the most important lessons from those early days: walk humbly, depend on God, listen to local communities, and remain willing to learn and adapt. Today, those early seeds have grown into an anti-trafficking program serving 833 children, along with 61 children receiving care in ORR’s Safe Home. It’s a powerful look back at where ORR began—and how God has faithfully grown the work one relationship, one community, and one child at a time.     98. Returning to Africa: Mia shares about Faith, Adoption & Calling

    In this episode, Rebecca sits down with Mia, who first traveled with Orphan Relief and Rescue on a Vision Trip to West Africa and has now returned three times. For Mia, traveling to Africa carries a deeply personal significance. Born in Ethiopia, Mia and her younger sister were adopted after losing their mother at a young age. Years later, returning to Africa became an unexpected part of Mia’s own faith journey. Mia shares how the joy and childlike faith she witnessed in the children at ORR’s Safe Home reminded her of the faith she had as a little girl and drew her into a deeper relationship with God. With each trip, she has also felt a growing desire to serve children in Africa and explore what God may be calling her to do with her life. Now studying entrepreneurship and international business, Mia hopes to one day start a nonprofit of her own. She doesn’t yet know exactly what that will look like—but she is continuing to follow where God leads. Mia’s story is a beautiful reminder that sometimes when we step out to serve others, God uses the experience to transform our own hearts as well.     97. Rosie’s Story: The Ripple Effect of One Rescue

    One girl’s rescue became the beginning of something much bigger. In this episode, Deb Baliko and Rebecca Pratt share the powerful story of Rosie, a young girl in a rural West African village who was malnourished, fearful, caring for her infant sister, and enduring abuse at home. Her older sister had already been trafficked to a neighboring country. After Rebecca felt prompted to return to Rosie’s village, Orphan Relief and Rescue stepped in to help provide her with safety, education, regular meals, and ongoing support. But what happened next was unexpected. During the visit, Rebecca chose to approach the family and community with kindness rather than confrontation. That decision opened the door to a remarkable conversation with a local man involved in trafficking. After being challenged to become a “hero” by helping children return home, he agreed to help. Within just 30 days, 35 children were brought back from trafficking and reunited with their families. For $50 a month or $600 a year, you can help protect one child by providing education, two meals a day, safety monitoring, and support for their family.     96. One Girl Rescued, 100+ Children Set Free

    In this episode, Deb Baliko and Rebecca Pratt share an important update on Orphan Relief and Rescue’s Anti-Trafficking Initiative as 833 children prepare to return to school on October 1. While many children are already funded for the year ahead, 323 children are still waiting for support. Just $50 a month—or $600 for an entire year—helps provide a child with education, daily meals, and ongoing monitoring to help protect them from being trafficked or re-trafficked. Rebecca also shares the powerful story of Rose, a young girl rescued from trafficking whose story ultimately opened the door for more than 100 children from her village to be rescued and protected. Her story is a beautiful reminder that changing the life of one child can create a ripple effect across an entire community. Deb and Rebecca also discuss the role of faith, relationships, and ORR’s growing network of Community Freedom Centers, including a new center made possible by a donor who chose to honor the memory of her sons through a lasting investment in children and families.
