Preparedness in Action: Game Processing, Land Management, and Garden Plans

What does real preparedness actually look like? This week on Wednesdays with Wayne, Wayne Rankin returns to The Joe Rooz Show for a wide-ranging conversation about putting practical preparedness into action. Wayne shares the story of Rosanna harvesting her first deer with a bow, what it takes to process and preserve wild game, and how hunting fits into a larger self-reliant lifestyle. From there, the conversation moves through food storage, fishing, foraging, propane, equipment, firearms, forestry, logging and managing the natural resources available on the property. Wayne also takes us into the woods, where Rosanna demonstrates some of the forestry work underway on the property and explains how removing overcrowded and unhealthy trees can open the forest floor, reduce hazards and create opportunities for new growth. It’s a wild, funny and practical hour that illustrates one of the central ideas behind Wednesdays with Wayne: preparedness isn't simply about buying supplies and putting them on a shelf. It's about developing the skills, knowledge and experience to produce, repair, harvest, preserve and adapt when circumstances demand it. When Life Doesn't Go According to Plan | Linda Plunkett

What happens when someone who has spent years helping other people suddenly becomes the one searching for hope? Linda Plunkett spent nearly two decades counseling others and helping people through difficult seasons of life. Then her own life changed dramatically when doctors discovered a tennis-ball-sized tumor in her frontal lobe. Following brain surgery, Linda faced chronic pain, fibromyalgia, seizures, memory problems and periods when she wasn't sure what her future would look like. Along the way, she also confronted difficult questions about faith, suffering, fear and what it means to trust God when prayers aren't answered the way we expect. In this conversation with Joe, Linda shares how becoming a patient changed her perspective as a counselor, why she believes we should be careful about judging struggles we cannot see, and how adversity forced her to wrestle honestly with her Christian faith. They also discuss the importance of seeking appropriate medical opinions and options, the relationship between body, mind and spirit, forgiveness, boundaries, anxiety, unanswered prayer and learning to live with circumstances we never planned for. Daniel 2: The Kingdom That Will Never Be Destroyed | Sunday Bible Study

What did Nebuchadnezzar's mysterious image reveal about the future of human kingdoms—and what is the meaning of the stone “cut out without hands”? In this continuation of Daniel Chapter 2, Joe returns to Nebuchadnezzar's prophetic dream and examines the succession of kingdoms represented by gold, silver, brass, iron, and finally the strange mixture of iron and clay. The study takes a closer look at Daniel 2:43 and the mysterious statement that “they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men,” comparing the passage with other portions of Scripture while clearly distinguishing biblical text from interpretation and speculation. But the central message of Daniel 2 isn't speculation. It is hope. Daniel tells Nebuchadnezzar that the kingdoms of men will ultimately give way to a Kingdom established by God—a Kingdom that will never be destroyed. The stone cut out without hands becomes the focus of the study as Joe examines its connection to Jesus Christ and His coming Kingdom, along with Isaiah's description of a world transformed under His rule. The chapter concludes with Nebuchadnezzar acknowledging Daniel's God as “a God of gods, and a Lord of kings,” while raising another important question: Who is truly worthy of worship? Harvest, Store & Prepare: Building Real Self-Reliance | Wednesdays with Wayne

Preparedness doesn't begin when an emergency happens. It begins with what you're doing today. Wayne Rankin—the Practical Prepper—returns for Wednesdays with Wayne with a look at harvest season and the everyday skills that build real self-reliance. Wayne and Joe talk about harvesting and preserving food, storing emergency water, filtration, expanding the garden, hunting and filling the freezer, and turning harvested timber into usable lumber for future projects. We also hear from Rosanna Rankin, who takes us into the garden to demonstrate harvesting rhubarb and explains several ways it can be preserved and used. Underneath it all is a simple idea: preparedness isn't about panic. It's about developing skills, using what you have, and taking responsibility before you need to. Why We Sabotage Our Own Success | Dr. Albert Bramante

Why do talented, capable people sometimes become their own biggest obstacle? Dr. Albert Bramante has spent more than two decades in the entertainment industry as a talent agent while studying the psychology behind self-defeating behavior. He joins Joe Rooz for a conversation about self-sabotage, procrastination, fear of failure—and even fear of success. Albert explains why self-sabotage can function as a protective mechanism, how success can threaten our identity and relationships, and why chronic procrastination may point to something deeper than poor time management. They also discuss lessons Albert learned representing actors, the importance of preparation without becoming scripted, surrounding yourself with the right people, and his practical “Happy File” technique for fighting those inevitable moments of self-doubt. Daniel 2: Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream and the Kingdoms of Men

In this Sunday Bible study, I continued our walk through Daniel by focusing on Daniel chapter 2 and Nebuchadnezzar’s forgotten dream. We looked at the impossible demand placed on Babylon’s wise men, Daniel’s decision to seek God in prayer with Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, and the humility Daniel showed when God revealed both the dream and its interpretation. One of the clearest takeaways in this passage is that when human wisdom runs out, God is still able to reveal what no man can know on his own. From there, I worked through the image in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream as a prophetic outline of successive kingdoms—Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome, and the final iron-and-clay phase still tied to the end times. We also touched on related passages in Proverbs, Genesis, Job, and Revelation, along with some of the more difficult prophetic questions raised by the text. Beneath all of that was the central reminder of the study: every kingdom of men has an expiration date, but the stone cut without hands points to Jesus Christ and the everlasting kingdom that will never be destroyed.
