    It's more than just books at aadl.org! TEEN WRITING CONTEST Are you a teen who likes to write short stories, poetry, or flash fiction? Do you have a teen who likes to write those same things? AADL is hosting its 34th Annual Teen Writing Contest and accepting submissions through March 1 for kids in grades 6 through 12. Writers must reside in Washtenaw County. Prizes for first, second, and third place in each category!  AADL.org/teenswrite LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT PLAQUES AADL has launched a call for artists, seeking indigenous artists from the Great Lakes region to create artwork for Land Acknowledgement plaques that the library intends to display at our five libraries and the AALF. Artists can apply, tell us a little bit about themselves, and give examples of past work—we're not looking for spec work here—and then AADL will select six artists to work with and support these artists in creating unique plaques for each location. It's the History of Soul Food and Taste Test on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 6-7 PM at the Downtown Library. Learn the roots, resistance, and resilience found in Black soul food traditions, and then taste samples from local soul food producers!  AAFF The 64th Ann Arbor Film Festival is next month, but to get people excited, film fest executive director Leslie Raymond is stopping by the library on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 1-3pm to screen eight award-winning experimental films from the 63rd AA Film Festival.
