Welcome to the Wild Wellth Podcast. This is a space for women building lives and work without abandoning themselves. I’m your host, Ebony Lyn, exploring what it means to be fully expressed in faith, life, and business. Here, we talk about identity and the inner work beneath visible leadership: Good Girl conditioning, self-silencing, authority, nervous system safety, spiritual formation, personal brand, and creative obedience. Because strategy matters, but not at the cost of your wholeness. If you’re building something that matters and becoming the woman who can hold it, you’re in the right place. onthelinemagazine.substack.com

The Cost of Saving Yourself for Later

Mentioned in this episode: * Download This Month's Practice & Companion Article We all do it… we keep the good perfume on the shelf for a “special occasion,” leave the tags on the nice dress, or hoard our best ideas until we feel “ready enough.” We tell ourselves we’re just being responsible, but if we’re honest, we’re actually rationing our own joy and waiting for a future version of ourselves to finally start living. In this episode, we’re talking about the cost of living in “layaway.” We break down the three conditions that keep us stuck: the Scarcity Trap, the Worthiness Threshold, and the Preservation Fallacy and look at the invoice we’re paying in momentum, relationships, and energy. It’s time to stop treating your present life like a rough draft or a rehearsal. You don’t need a special event to justify using your best things. The ordinary, everyday life you are living right now is the occasion. In this episode, we cover: * The Architecture of Avoidance: Why we choose to hoard our best instead of using it. * The 3 Layaway Conditions: Identifying the subtle lies that keep us holding back. * The Invoice: Calculating what it actually costs you to wait for “someday.” * The Good Dress Trial: A non-negotiable 7-day challenge to help you stop saving yourself for later. Join the challenge: I’m calling it the #GoodDressTrial. Pick one thing you’ve been hoarding: the perfume, the journal, the outfit and use it today. No more waiting for the “perfect” time. Let me know in the comments: What are you taking off layaway this week? This is a public episode. Why Self-Improvement is Keeping You Hidden

Mentioned in this episode: Read the companion article We go to therapy, buy the planners, complete the protocols, and convince ourselves we are simply in a “season of growth.” But if we are truly honest, we have to ask a harder question: When did self-improvement stop being a tool for stewardship and start becoming a shield? In this episode, we’re dismantling what I call the Architecture of Avoidance. We’re talking about the “Arrival Fallacy,” the cognitive trap of believing that once we hit a certain milestone, we’ll finally be allowed to feel peace. We’ve built a relationship with a “Phantom Self,” a version of us who handles conflict with poise, never doubts, and always drinks her water and we’re using her to bully our current, breathing, human selves into the shadows. This is a conversation about the theology of scarcity, the Manna Principle, and why hoarding our energy for a future season is just another way of saying we don’t trust God to meet us in the morning. You do not need to wait until the house is finished, the body is smaller, or the credentials are lined up to occupy your life. The command is not to wait for arrival; the command is to be here. It’s time to stop treating your present life like a rough draft. Join the conversation: What part of your actual, current life are you refusing to inhabit because you are holding out for a phantom who does not exist? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Hidden Authority: The Work That's Earned But Unacknowledged

Download The Audit When recognition does not arrive alongside your work, something subtle starts to happen. You begin questioning whether the labor counts at all. Without realizing it, you start treating follower counts, credentials, and external applause as the final evidence required to make your contribution real. In this episode of On The Line on the Wild Wellth Podcast, we are moving past cultural observation and into direct application. Insight alone is not enough. It is time for a ground-level exercise called The Legitimacy Audit. This session is designed to help you uncover where authority has already been earned in your life, even if it has not yet been fully acknowledged. If you are tired of waiting for external permission to validate years of quiet study, testing, and execution, grab a notebook and press play. What We Are Unpacking: * Visibility vs. Legitimacy: Why numbers show who can currently be seen, but fail to measure what has actually been built. * Disqualifying Proof: How we convince ourselves we have no evidence simply because our progress does not look glamorous to the marketplace. * Hiding in Language: Identifying the passive phrases used to shrink mature work. * Stewardship: Shifting from waiting to be discovered to taking full responsibility for what has developed through you. The Real Cost of Being an "Agreeable" Woman

Have you ever noticed the small, apologetic sentence you say right before you share your actual opinion, set a boundary, or claim credit for your work? In this episode of Wild Wellth, we are breaking down the disclaimer before the defense—the exhausting, hidden ritual of reluctance many women perform just to prove they aren’t trying to be difficult. Pulling insights from a recent, viral beauty controversy, we look past the surface drama to expose what it actually costs a woman to speak plainly in our culture. If you have ever spent hours rewriting a perfectly reasonable email, over-explained a basic “no,” or felt your heart race before stating a boundary, this conversation is the mirror you’ve been waiting for. It’s time to stop paying the hidden tax on your assertion and learn what it truly takes to speak without abandoning yourself in the process. We’re diving into: * The Ritual of Reluctance: The real reason we feel compelled to establish our innocence before telling the truth. * The Tax on Assertion: Why directness feels like actual danger to your nervous system. * The High-Stakes Calculation: The specific social and professional penalties waiting for Black women who speak firmly. * Biblical Plainness: Why your “Yes” should simply be “Yes,” and how to stop burying your integrity in qualifications. This episode is brought to you by On The Line—a magazine and conversation for women who want more and are willing to become more. Hit play, and let’s learn how to finally say it with our chest. Building a Brand World Big Enough for All of You

What happens when you outgrow the categories you once used to introduce yourself? In this transparent episode of After Hours, we sit down for a real conversation about moving past the pressure to “niche down” and instead building a brand world large enough to hold everything you are. After a month of wrestling and praying, a major shift is officially here. What began as Her Elevated Self is expanding into On The Line—a brand-new digital magazine launching its very first issue on July 1st. For years, the traditional content model felt too linear, demanding a reduction of multifaceted expertise into a single, easily marketable box. This episode breaks down the relief of trading rigid categorizations for an editorial model - a space where business strategy, scripture, nervous system regulation, beauty, and wellness can coexist without wandering “off-brand.” We dive deep into what it truly means to stop delaying obedience to God, to stop waiting for a future version of yourself to validate your work, and to authorize the creation you are already capable of beginning today. Inside the Episode: * The Evolution of a Brand: Why changing a Substack name is actually about creating a true editorial home for a larger body of work. * The Trap of Fragmentation: Recognizing that your personal, creative, and professional identities are not separate boxes but different angles of the exact same source. * A Sneak Peek at Issue One: A preview of The Legitimacy Issue, tracking how a beauty trademark controversy uncovers the quiet ways women wait for external permission to claim their labor. * The Power of Artful Work: Moving past making content that is strictly “useful” to embrace work that is artful, beautiful, and alive. “At some point, we have to stop waiting for the future version of ourselves to actually obey God and to authorize the work the present version of us is already capable of beginning.” Resources & Links Mentioned: ∙ Subscribe to the Magazine: On The Line (Launching July 1st!) ∙ Missed the last episode?
