  1. Episode 1 Season 2 - When Compassion Meets Conflict

Episode 1 Season 2 - When Compassion Meets Conflict

WHEN COMPASSION MEETS CONFLICT In sports, winners get the glory. No matter how well you play, if you don’t win, you’re often overlooked. But sometimes the real story isn’t found on the scoreboard. We all know a single point can decide a game; one point ahead is victory, one point short is heartbreak, even after a magnificent performance. That was the reality following the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2026 playoff loss, when one reporter chose humanity over routine. Veteran Jacksonville Free Press journalist and host of #LynnandFriends, Lynette Lynn Jones followed her heart in a moment when a coach and a city were carrying the weight of a tough defeat. Instead of leading with questions, she led with compassion. Her decision sparked criticism and raised an important conversation about the balance between empathy and professional protocol in sports journalism. In this powerful Season Two premiere of the TRUST, Then Know, The Jackie Boyd Podcast, Lynn Jones takes us inside that emotional press conference moment, when instinct, kindness, and compassion spoke louder than policy. Together, we explore why simple encouragement can feel out of place in competitive spaces and whether there’s room for more humanity in sports. We also honor Black History Month, as this meaningful conversation was recorded at one of Jacksonville’s most historic institutions, the home of the Jacksonville Free Press. If you appreciate authenticity, heart, and “keep-it-real” conversations, this episode with Lynn Jones - one of the most genuine and compassionate voices you’ll ever hear -  is one you don’t want to miss.

  2. Episode 25 - The Psychology of Discipline

    JAN 28

Episode 25 - The Psychology of Discipline

The Psychology of Discipline | Featuring Dr. Janette Edwards Why is it so hard to stick with the very things we say we want? From abandoned goals to broken resolutions, so many of us struggle to stay consistent — and end up blaming ourselves in the process. In this powerful and insightful episode, we take a deeper look at what’s really going on beneath the surface. Joining the conversation is Dr. Janette Edwards, Christian Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who brings a rich clinical and spiritual perspective to the science behind discipline. Together, we explore the psychological and emotional factors that affect follow-through, motivation, and long-term change. Dr. Edwards breaks down how our brains, past experiences, and even stress responses play a role in why discipline can feel so difficult. But this episode goes beyond productivity hacks and willpower. Dr. Edwards also speaks to the importance of grace, forgiveness, and understanding our shared human frailty. If you’ve ever been hard on yourself — or others — for falling short, this conversation offers a refreshing and compassionate perspective on growth, healing, and extending the same patience to others that we so desperately need ourselves. This episode is for anyone who: starts strong but struggles to stay consistent; feels frustrated with their lack of follow-through; wants a healthier, more compassionate view of discipline; is learning how to give themselves — and others — grace. Tune in for a conversation that blends science, self-awareness, and spirit.

    Episode 21 - Parenting X, Y and Z

I’ve been blessed to sit down with so many incredible people—each with powerful stories of resilience, encouragement, and inspiration. It’s impossible to choose which conversation has touched my heart the most, but my recent interview with my friend and powerhouse business and community mogul, Ms. Marcia Brown, is certainly one of the most soul-stirring. As a mother who became a single mother, a wife who became a widow, and a woman simply trying to navigate life, I deeply resonate with Marcia. She, too, has worn many of the same hats. Our episode, Parenting X, Y, and Z, goes far beyond the topic of parenting; it dives into the heart of a woman with a God-given passion for uplifting youth and young adults. The Word teaches us to give even out of our own need—and Marcia has done exactly that, often without realizing she was doing it. And she continues to pour out, faithfully. If you’re ready for a beautiful, tear-jerking, heartfelt conversation, be sure to tune in to Episode 21. Thank you, Marcia, for allowing me the honor of hearing your transparent, authentic, and inspiring story. God really does turn ashes into beauty. Those rough, tough, rugged seasons—the ones we wish we could escape—He uses to create the most brilliant, rare, and authentic diamonds. Nothing fake. Nothing false. No wooden nickels. Join me Tuesday, November 18, for Episode 21 as my friend, Ms. Marcia Brown, founder and executive director of Teen Leaders of America, shares the TLA story—and how pouring into others ultimately poured back into her.
