Active Generosity Podcast

Stewardship

Welcome to Active Generosity, Stewardship's brand new podcast. Join us for an exploration into the world of faithful and generous Christian stewardship. I'm your host, Ruth Jackson. Each month I'll be chatting to a Stewardship donor, partner or colleague about their journey of generosity, exploring why and how they give, the joys and challenges they've experienced along the way and what a difference generosity makes to their lives. As you hear from both donors and leaders of charitable causes, our prayer is that you'll learn something new, experience fresh perspectives and be encouraged and inspired to take the next step on your own generosity journey. Along the way, you'll also learn something about us and the myriad ways in which we support our donors and the many charities, churches and Christian workers who are our partners. Perhaps you do already know us as a donor but have no idea we may be supporting some of your favourite causes. Or, you've come to us for help as a church or charity leader or Christian worker but didn't realise we can also support you in your personal giving. As you put the pieces of the Stewardship jigsaw together, we hope you'll also be excited to discover our growing community of engaged givers and verified partners doing amazing work across God's Kingdom. Subscribe to our podcast newsletter via the link in our trailer show notes, where you'll also find further information about Stewardship. Together, let's discover the joy of active generosity.

  1. EPISODE 1

Episode 1: Swarzy Shire, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra host

Welcome to Episode 1 of the 40 Acts Generosity Challenge podcast!  This weekly Lent podcast series from Stewardship explores what it means to live generously -through stories, reflections and practical encouragement from our 40 Acts community.   In this opening episode, Ruth Jackson is joined by BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra host, speaker and cultural influencer Swarzy Shire, who kicks off the series with warmth, honesty and humour. She shares her thoughts on our upside-down approach to Lent, her experiences in creating content for it and how she's buckling up for the challenge ahead.   "Generosity grows when we stop striving for perfection and start running towards Jesus - because when we remember how much we've been given, giving becomes a joy, not a task."  Swarzy's favourite verse for Lent   'I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth'. Psalms 121:1-2 (NIV).   A fresh insight: the '121' reminder of God's personal help and presence.  See our note on Bible usage: https://www.stewardship.org.uk/bible-usage  How you can pray for Swarzy:  to run towards Jesus rather than drift back to old patterns  boldness to live out faith in her workplace and platform  wisdom in balancing public influence with private discipleship  for her family, who do not yet share her faith  for continued fruitfulness through The Last Supper Club, which Swarzy set up and hosts in her home as a way of sharing the love of Jesus  Related links:  Follow Swarzy on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/swarzyshire/ and check out The Last Supper Club collaboration with Stewardship. Trailer: 40acts Generosity Challenge podcast

Welcome to the 40acts Generosity Challenge, Stewardship's new podcast for Lent. Would you like to do Lent differently this year? This 40-day period of fasting, prayer and reflection leading up to Easter is normally associated with giving stuff up but 40acts, our generosity challenge for Lent, flips that right on its head to focus instead on giving stuff away – that's right, giving stuff away - not just money but also our time and talents. It's a wonderful opportunity to bless people in creative ways big and small and to have lots of joy and fun in the process. Each week from Ash Wednesday onwards throughout Lent, hear from a member of our Stewardship community who is engaged in 40acts. Our guests will share the highs and lows of their 40acts journey so far and how their faith is helping them to keep going. So, please join us for encouragement and inspiration as you embark on your own 40acts journey this Lent season.  Listen to our podcast trailer to find out more and sign up for 40acts to be the first to receive each week's podcast as well as daily resources to support you on your 40acts journey.  Together, let's discover the joy of active generosity this Lent.
