    Ep. 92 – Fake Happiness

Being a leitz is one of the biggest insults you can give someone—it means nothing in life is important to you. The Mesilas Yesharim compares a leitz to someone who's drunk or a shoteh: they're always happy, but their happiness is fake. It doesn't come from deep satisfaction; it comes from thrills and jokes, not from being settled and content. Yes, sometimes you need a good laugh to lift someone up. The Gemara speaks of two clowns who were Ben Olam Haba because they cheered up people who were down—but they did it without taking away the seriousness of their situations. Medical clowns understand this balance: make someone smile without trivializing their terminal illness. But leitzanus as a derech in life? That's when your brain is gone, you have no connection to the seriousness of reality, and all inhibitions disappear. It's like being drunk—you say things you shouldn't because nothing is holding you back. These people can't accept guidance, can't take anything seriously, and end up doing the worst aveiros because there's nothing stopping them. Shlomo HaMelech said there's a time for laughter, but if it's your whole approach to life, you're lost forever. The only thing that might wake you up is heavy yissurim—and you don't want to get there. Will you choose to take life seriously before it's too late?
