VOICE, WORTH, PURPOSE The 3 Tools You Were Never Given

VOICE, WORTH, PURPOSEThe 3 Tools You Were Never Given What happens when you know how to show up for everyone else, but you are not always sure how to show up for yourself? In this episode of Be Your Empowered Self, I’m talking about three things that have become increasingly important in my own life: VOICE.WORTH.PURPOSE. Not as slogans. Not as something we have to perfect. But as parts of ourselves worth learning how to return to. VOICE asks:Can I say what is true for me when it matters? WORTH asks:Do I still believe I matter when I fail, get criticized, am no longer needed in the same way, or do not receive the approval I hoped for? PURPOSE asks:What is calling me forward in this season of my life? You can be a strong, outspoken woman and still find certain truths difficult to say for yourself. You can appear confident and still have your worth quietly connected to achievement, usefulness, appearance, or approval. And you can have spent years living with purpose for everyone around you and still find yourself wondering: What belongs to me now? This is a reflective conversation, not a formula. I share what I have learned through my own experiences, observations, continued learning, writing, and life. Your answers may be completely different from mine. This week’s five-minute exercise is simple: Open the Voice Memo app on your phone and answer these three questions out loud: What am I not saying that I know is true for me? What have I been using lately to measure whether I am enough? What is calling me forward right now, even quietly? Then listen back. Not to judge how you sound. Listen for what feels alive, what becomes quieter, where you hesitate, and what may deserve more of your attention. Your voice does not need to be the loudest in the room. It needs to be audible to you. Your worth does not need unanimous approval. It needs somewhere deeper to live than somebody else’s opinion. And your purpose does not have to impress anyone. It needs to give you a reason to participate fully in your own life. Next week:The Gifted Years - What They Actually Gifted You. If this episode speaks to you, share it with another woman who may be asking what belongs to her in this chapter of life. Follow Be Your Empowered Self so we can sit together again next Wednesday. The Foundation That Doesn't Crumble

THE FOUNDATION THAT DOESN’T CRUMBLEWhat does it really mean to build a foundation that can shake without crumbling? In this episode of Be Your Empowered Self, I’m looking at the difference between being shaken by life and allowing what happens around us to completely change what we believe about ourselves.Life will move.Plans change.People change.Relationships change.Children grow up.Parents age.Careers shift. We succeed. We fail.We get disappointed.A strong foundation does not mean none of those things affect us.It means we have something to return to when they do.I use the example of earthquake-resistant buildings. Strength does not always mean rigidity. Sometimes real strength includes the ability to move under pressure without completely falling apart.I think the same can be true for us.So this week, I’m asking you to look at three important parts of your own foundation:VOICECan I say what is true for me when it matters?WORTHDo I still believe I matter when I fail, get criticized, or am no longer needed in the same way?PURPOSEWhat is calling me forward in this season of my life? This is not about becoming a woman who never cries, struggles, questions herself, or needs support. It is about knowing that being shaken does not have to mean losing yourself.Your simple exercise this week:Write three words:VOICEWORTHPURPOSEThen answer one question under each:What truth do I need to be able to say? What do I need to remember about myself when things don’t go well? What is calling me forward in this season? Then circle the one that may need a little strengthening. No shame. No judgment.Just information.Because sometimes the question is not:“What is wrong with me?”Maybe the better question is:“What needs reinforcing?”A strong foundation doesn’t stop the shaking. It changes what the shaking can destroy.Next week, we go deeper into Voice, Worth, and Purpose. If this episode speaks to you, share it with another woman who may need the reminder that she is allowed to bend without breaking.Follow Be Your Empowered Self so we can meet here again next Wednesday.BYES.Be your strong, beautiful self. And let’s turn someday into today.Deb🖤DISCLAIMERThe ideas and reflections shared in this podcast are based on my personal experiences, observations, learning, and perspective.Be Your Empowered Self is intended for educational and inspirational purposes only. Your Struggles Were Not a Waste

Episode 149 — Your Struggles Were Not a Waste Have you ever looked back at a difficult season of your life and wondered what all of it was for? The years you spent surviving. Waiting. Caring for everyone else. Making mistakes. Staying too long. Starting over. Or becoming so busy being who everyone needed that you stopped asking who you were becoming. It can be tempting to look back with should have, could have, why didn’t I? But the woman looking back today knows things the woman living through those years could not yet know. In this episode of Be Your Empowered Self, I’m talking about what our difficult seasons can leave behind: experience, perspective, endurance, discernment, courage, and a stronger understanding of who we are. This is not about pretending that everything painful was necessary or good. It is about refusing to let pain have the final word. Sometimes the years we are most tempted to dismiss are the very years that taught us what we needed for the life we are living now. Why hindsight can make us unfair to our younger selvesThe danger of living in the “should haves”What difficult seasons can teach us about endurance and discernmentWhy struggle and waste are not the same thingHow to look back without getting stuck thereThe question that may change how you see your past:What do I know now because I lived through it?Fading Memories: The Long Drive Home — A Daughter’s Journey Through Dementia, Caregiving, and Loveby Debra Fodor 📖 Amazon:https://a.co/d/0bSmLN3G 🔗 Continue the journey with me:https://linktr.ee/SomedayToday If this episode speaks to you, share it with someone who may need the reminder that the years they struggled through were not empty years. BEFORE WE SAY GOODBYE FOR THE SUMMER…

☀️ Summer is officially here. The gardens are blooming, the BBQs have begun, families are gathering, and many of us are looking forward to time at the lake, the cottage, or simply enjoying a quiet evening on the porch. But before another beautiful season slips by, I want to ask you one simple question: Are you going to live this summer… or simply watch it go by? In this week’s Power Wednesday episode, we’re having an honest conversation about slowing down, being fully present, and making the most of the season we’ve been given. We’ll explore why the simplest moments often become our most treasured memories, how to stop postponing your joy, and why summer is an invitation to participate in your life—not just manage it. We’ll also talk about the importance of rest, meaningful connection, and the reminder that life moves quickly, so let’s not miss the moments that matter most. In this episode:☀️ Why summer reminds us that time is precious☀️ Three life lessons to help you enjoy the season more fully☀️ Five simple ways to create a meaningful summer☀️ A research insight on the benefits of nature, rest, and connection☀️ Deb’s Heart to Heart on why we need to stop waiting to live Wait a minute… let’s talk honestly. Nobody gets to the end of summer wishing they’d worked a little harder. We remember the laughter, the conversations, the sunsets, the family gatherings, and the ordinary moments that quietly became unforgettable memories. So don’t wait. Be fully in this season. Make the phone call. Take the walk. Watch the sunset. Laugh a little louder. Create memories that your future self will be grateful for. I’m so grateful you’ve spent this season with me.
