I am absolutely convinced that Discipleship is THE prime directive of the church. When Christ ascended to his throne in the heavenly realm, he gave this command to his followers: “… as you go, make disciples.” A product of my passion to see the church disciple well, is a book I wrote called “The Way to Discipleship: Thinking Well About the Kingdom of God.” The Way to Discipleship talks about the cognitive part of following Christ—the Thinking part of being a Disciple. As we follow Christ, it is vitally important that we think well – that we think Biblically – about who God is.

    A healthy disciple of Christ, and a healthy discipleship ministry, must focus on all three of these social capacities. Our thinking, our passions, and our behaviors. What and how we think, feel, and do. Our head, heart, and hands. To use a football analogy, we must know the playbook, we must practice the drills, and we must develop a passion to win. In this message, presented at First Baptist Church in New Castle, IN on December 29, 2024, I want to help us develop our passion for the Kingdom of God.
