You ladies are amazing! My grama had Alzheimer’s/Dementia for quite a while, and the family would notice little things but not thinking anything of it, but when my mom would go to the dr with her, If my grama let my mom go in, my grama had “a look” that she would give my mom, meaning you better not say anything, because she would be completely. lucid/normal, so I went for the first time, and my grama had me take her jacket, and before I knew it, my grama was already in the back room! I was like ummm so I told the front desk I needed to go in the back with her, they had said okay we’ll tell her and if she wants you to come back they will come get you. So i waited and waited and waited, then I was going back to the desk and I saw my grama walk out the exit door on the other side! I was baffled I walked outside and my grama obviously did know where we were parked, and I’m taking her to the car, and asked what happened in the room with the Dr, of course she couldn’t remember 🤦♀️! And just kept saying the Dr just says “do you understand what I’m talking about?” So another trip 6months later I got in the office, I called before had explained about the problems with her memory. We get in the Dr did the memory tests, and the Dr says “yes well there is memory issues, but you’re not driving and people live with you, so you are safe, we could do a brain scan, and see a neurologist, and the can give medication but it doesn’t work, and it’s just age, and it’s what happens!” 😳 she was 87 @that time, and it was frustrating for 2more years and I finally got her a new Dr. only because the one she had went into concierge Doctoring, and that required extra money a year so that was perfect timing and I got her an MRI to be able to have that diagnosis to be able to move forward in decisions we had to make and things we could do take care of her. She passed away this last December 2025 before Christmas. Listening to you about your momma makes me smile and think bout my grama and the craziness that really transpired in the last 6month before her passing. Thank you for sharing!
