    From Factory Worker to BlackFern ✨ Motherhood became the ULTIMATE perspective shifter for Awhina, helping her to realise that if she set her mind to it, she could 100% achieve it.  Motherhood showed her what she really wanted and what she was absolutely capable of. Making her journey bigger and better after having her son and now she can take him along for the ride too! Even to places a 5 year old definitely didn't know existed!! With her own childhood full of up's and downs, she got an opportunity to play the sport that would eventually see her achieving greatness in New Zealand's favourite sport. Eventually finding herself as a defender in the Blacksticks. She wouldn't describe herself as the most athletic or talented player but she worked her butt off for the National position she found herself in. However, it wasn't as glamorous as it would appear to be from the outside. The microscopic scrutiny and pressures, affecting her mental and physical health as early as 8 months into her International career. A turning point for her to delve into the inner workings of mindset and wellbeing that would eventually find her speaking to young females going through what she had, to now owning a wellness studio. Brooke chose carefully to not advance into Motherhood until she had retired.
