The AI Risks Most Business Owners Aren’t Thinking About

AI is already part of our businesses, whether we actively use tools such as ChatGPT or not. But how much do we really understand about how to use AI safely, responsibly and ethically? In this episode, I’m joined by AI Strategist Hali Jafari to explore some of the biggest myths around AI and what business owners need to start thinking about now. We discuss AI literacy, responsible and ethical AI use, data and intellectual property, whether paying for ChatGPT automatically makes your information safe. Hali also explains why AI cannot actually “think”, why businesses should remain tool agnostic and why understanding how and why you are using AI matters far more than jumping onto every new platform. We also look at some practical steps you can take now to review your own AI use, including checking your settings, memory, data and how AI is being used by members of your team. AI is developing quickly, but this conversation isn’t about being frightened of it or blindly embracing it. It’s about understanding it well enough to make informed decisions about where AI belongs in your business and where it doesn’t. More about Hali: Hali Jafari is the founder of ETHIQ AI. She helps founders, CEOs, and business owners get AI literate, build AI into their businesses responsibly, through practical policies, governance frameworks, and hands-on training.  Based in Bristol, UK, Hali's mission is straightforward: make ethical AI implementation something founders can actually understand and do, not just something they worry about.  Through ETHIQ AI's courses and consultancy, she's turned "we should probably have an AI policy" into systems people genuinely use and understand. How to Figure Out What You Really Want with Cheryl Masey

There comes a point when life looks fine on the outside, but something just doesn't feel quite right. You keep thinking there must be something more, but you can't quite put your finger on what it is. In this episode of Next Level You, I'm joined by mindset coach Cheryl Masey to explore why so many of us stay stuck in lives that feel safe but no longer feel fulfilling, and how we can start uncovering what we really want. We talk about why confidence comes after action, how limiting beliefs keep us inside our comfort zone, why fear often disguises itself as practical excuses, and how small, consistent steps create lasting change. One question Cheryl asks towards the end of the conversation is: If your life looked exactly the same in a year's time, would you be happy? I'd love to know your answer. If you enjoyed this conversation, I'd really appreciate it if you followed the podcast, left a review or shared it with someone who might need it. More about Cheryl: I help busy people enjoy their life more. I help build their confidence, self belief and worth so they can live a life on purpose how they want to. How do you get speaking opportunities if nobody knows who you are?

Most people think they need a huge social media following before they'll be invited to speak on stage. Amanda O disagrees!! In this episode of Next Level You, Amanda shares how she built a business around helping entrepreneurs use speaking opportunities to generate clients, collaborations and business growth. We talk about why speaking is one of the fastest ways to build authority, how she created her own stage when opportunities weren't available, and why years of experience count for far more than your follower count. We also have an open conversation about failed launches, comparison, confidence and the reality that most successful businesses evolve into something very different from where they started. Amanda shares how a disappointing first launch became the beginning of a completely different business, and why taking imperfect action will always beat waiting until you feel ready. Together we explore: How speaking can become one of your most effective marketing tools. Why building your own opportunities can be more powerful than waiting to be invited. The link between learning, confidence and commercial success on stage. Why smaller, intentionally designed events can create bigger opportunities than large conferences. The importance of remembering the expertise you've already built throughout your career. How Stage One Events is helping first-time speakers step onto the stage More about Amanda: I’m Amanda O, founder of Stage ONE. For over 20 years I’ve specialised in the psychology of communication, influence and sales. Today I help founders and experts transform speaking from a visibility exercise into a commercial growth strategy. My work focuses on creating talks that build authority, move buyers and create opportunities long after people leave the room. Speaking isn’t a marketing tactic anymore. It’s one of the most valuable commercial assets a founder can have. I’m passionate about helping experts become known for what they know, not how many followers they have. Mission Ambition: Helping More Women Step Into Leadership with Jo Dallas

What would be possible if you stopped talking yourself out of the things you really want? In this episode, I'm joined by leadership coach and founder of Changemakers Coaching, Jo Dallas, for a conversation about confidence, ambition, leadership and why so many women hold themselves back from opportunities they're more than capable of achieving. We talk about the impact of negative self-talk, stepping outside your comfort zone, asking for what you want, building supportive networks, and why doing it all alone isn't the badge of honour we often think it is. If you've ever questioned whether you're ready for the next step, this episode is a reminder that growth rarely feels comfortable, and that's often a sign you're heading in the right direction. More about Jo: Jo Dallas is on a mission to help women unapologetically achieve their ambitions. As the founder of Changemakers Coaching she’s been a ‘work wing woman’ to some of the most capable women in business - women who are smart and intelligent and havesomehow still found themselves stuck, shrunk, or simply not sure what comes next or how to get there. For six years she's worked globally with organisations serious about closing their leadership gender gap and with executive women who are done waiting to feel ready. Her mission is simple. Help women decide what they actually want, and then go get it. Whether that's the boardroom, their own business, a return after a career break, or quitting everything and moving country. All of it counts. All of them matter. Being coached by Jo has been described as “a hug and a kick”. Warm enough that you feel safe. Direct enough that you take action. If you're waiting until you feel ready, you’ll be waiting a long time. Instead, take your next best step and talk to Jo. The Only Way You Fail Is If You Give Up

TW: This episode references child loss This episode was recorded on the way home from a business strategy day in Kent and I very nearly did not publish it! This recording are my thoughts as they came to me, so there is repetition, there are pauses - all the things a great Podcast Strategist would tell you not to publish. But I didn't want to get in my own way by editing and perfecting what is an in the moment reflection. So instead, I ask for your forgiveness with the pauses and where I repeat myself. I spent the day with a group of incredible women, several in their 70s, who are building businesses, creating products, launching new ideas and investing in themselves and their futures. Their stories made me reflect on my own journey over the last two years. The goals I haven't achieved yet. The progress I have made. The lessons learned along the way. And the importance of continuing to show up, even when things take longer than expected. We talk a lot about success, but not enough about persistence. This is a conversation about ambition, resilience, purpose, learning, growth and what becomes possible when you decide not to give up.
