In this essay, we will: - Chit chat about pop culture (because Juli has her finger on the pulse) - Do a completely untrained rhetorical analysis of the media we love (and don't). - say something true and beautiful? Maybe one day we'll accidentally stumble into that last one.

15: In This Essay I Will Know How it Ends and Still Sing it Again (Hadestown)

"In This Essay," the podcast wherein we swap takes and hone in one lucky piece of media we've chosen to analyze. Like a book club but for everything (and everyone). This week we discuss Anaïs Mitchell's Hadestown. A musical behemoth of lyricism, inspired set design and deeply emotional, satisfying storytelling. Make media literacy cool again! (Seriously we're begging you.)

16: In This Essay I Will Return to the Grove, My Brother (Iron Lung Pt. 2)

"In This Essay," the podcast wherein we swap takes and hone in one lucky piece of media we've chosen to analyze. Like a book club but for everything (and everyone). This week we discuss Iron Lung, the sci-fi horror movie produced, directed, and starred in by Markiplier (based on the game by the same name). Yes, we're doing it again because we forgot some stuff before. Make media literacy cool again! (Seriously we're begging you.)

11: In This Essay I Will Beach You Off (Barbie 2023)

"In This Essay," the podcast wherein we swap takes and hone in one lucky piece of media we've chosen to analyze. Like a book club but for everything (and everyone). This week we discuss the one and only Barbie, Greta Gerwig's hilarious and emotional blockbuster from 2023. We're not only into the big hits, but we both separately watched this one in theaters three times so it had to be done. Make media literacy cool again! (Seriously we're begging you.)

10: In This Essay I Will Master All Four Elements (Avatar the Last Airbender)

"In This Essay," the podcast wherein we swap takes and hone in one lucky piece of media we've chosen to analyze. Like a book club but for everything (and everyone). This week we talk a childhood (and adulthood) favorite: Avatar the Last Airbender in honor of this year marking it's twentieth anniversary from its premiere. There may not be much left to say about it after twenty years, but we're going to say a bunch anyway. Make media literacy cool again! (Seriously we're begging you.)

"In This Essay," the podcast wherein we swap takes and hone in one lucky piece of media we've chosen to analyze. Like a book club but for everything (and everyone). This week we discuss Molly McGhee's novel "Jonathan Abernathy You Are Kind." A piece of (dystopian?) fiction on the nature of capitalism, work, and dreams (and the people they make us). Make media literacy cool again! (Seriously we're begging you.)

8: In This Essay I Will Be A Punk Rocker (Superman 2025)

This week we reintroduce ourselves. Risen from the ashes like a phoenix we emerge as "In This Essay," the podcast wherein we swap takes and hone in one lucky piece of media we've chosen to analyze (in our extremely unprofessional and untrained capacities) for the week. Like a book club but for everything (and everyone). Even you Steve. Today we talk James Gunn's "Superman 2025," and why this superman is the one we've all been waiting for. Make media literacy cool again! (Seriously we're begging you.)

6: Death of a Podcast

The Ides of April spell our doom this week as we kill our podcast in order to be reborn as a cooler podcast next week. When our false start was more interesting than our show... we knew what must be done. But for now there are twice as many stars in the sky, enjoy the talk of scary nightjar mouths, the war of the genital graffiti, and why bananas are actually the fundamental element of the universe.

In this essay, we will: - Chit chat about pop culture (because Juli has her finger on the pulse) - Do a completely untrained rhetorical analysis of the media we love (and don't). - say something true and beautiful? Maybe one day we'll accidentally stumble into that last one.
